Apollo Hospitals has appointed Upasana Kamineni Konidela as Director – Projects, giving her responsibility for overseeing an Rs 8,600-crore expansion programme across its hospital network in India.
The expansion covers both new hospitals and upgrades to existing facilities. Around Rs 1,565 crore has been earmarked for brownfield projects, which involve expanding or improving hospitals that are already operational.
Konidela will work with Apollo leadership, clinical teams and project partners on the planning and execution of these projects. Her role will include overseeing new hospital development, facility upgrades and the design standards followed across the group network.
Apollo Hospital Network
The expansion is expected to strengthen Apollo presence in major cities including Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai. The group is also looking at emerging healthcare markets such as Lucknow and Varanasi as part of the programme.
According to the company, the projects will focus not only on adding capacity but also on improving the experience inside hospitals. Areas such as clearer signage, better movement through clinical spaces and patient-focused design will form part of the planning process.
The appointment comes as Apollo continues to invest in physical healthcare infrastructure across different markets. The scale of the planned investment makes project planning and execution an important part of the group expansion strategy.

Konidela is the granddaughter of Apollo Hospitals founder Dr. Prathap C. Reddy. Before taking up the Director – Projects role, she had been associated with the group through its corporate social responsibility activities.
Her new responsibilities place her directly within the hospital development side of the business. She will be involved in coordinating different teams and project partners as Apollo works on both greenfield and brownfield facilities.

Apollo Hospitals reported revenue of Rs 25,228 crore for FY26. The company has been expanding its healthcare network through hospitals, specialised medical services and other healthcare operations.
The planned Rs 8,600-crore investment covers a wider expansion programme rather than a single hospital project. Greenfield development involves building new facilities, while brownfield investment is directed towards upgrading or expanding existing hospitals.
For Apollo, the combination allows the group to add capacity in new markets while increasing the capabilities of hospitals already operating in established locations.
