Ola-Uber to Face Heat as Green SM Launches EV Cabs in Delhi

Green SM Premium EV Delhi Launch

Vietnamese electric mobility operator Green SM has officially launched 1,000 electric SUVs in Delhi and Gurugram, marking its entry into India’s urban transport market. Backed by Southeast Asian conglomerate Vingroup, the company aims to challenge established players like Ola and Uber with a premium, service-focused fleet.

The rollout comes amid shifting commuter preferences, as urban riders increasingly value reliability, safety, and cleanliness over fare discounts. By deploying trained drivers, standardized operating protocols, and onboard safety systems, Green SM is positioning itself as a differentiated competitor in the NCR cab market.

Premium Demands

The deployment strategy follows findings from an industry white paper released by Vingroup, which suggests that long-term asset utilization and market retention will be driven by service benchmarks rather than fare subsidization. Data from Deloitte's Global Consumer Tracker supports this trend, indicating that the expanding middle-class demographic in metropolitan areas places a premium on predictable ETA metrics, structured pricing models, and professional driver conduct.

Unlike traditional platform models that rely on driver-owned assets, Green SM relies on corporate-trained operators, onboard safety systems, and standardized protocols to stabilize customer experience. Consumer behavior metrics from KPMG India’s Customer Experience Report indicate that service reliability is now the primary factor dictating customer retention within the digital services framework, creating a commercial entry point for experience-focused fleet operators.

"India’s rapidly evolving consumer aspirations and maturing digital economy are reshaping expectations across the urban mobility sector," a senior company spokesperson stated. "With both passengers and drivers increasingly prioritizing quality, reliability, and trust over price alone, long-term competitiveness in the market will be driven by service excellence rather than aggressive discounting."

Market Strategy

According to sector analysis by RedSeer, experience-led differentiation is expected to dictate the next capital allocation cycle in the urban mobility market. The introduction of standardized operating protocols is anticipated to put upward pressure on service delivery rules across competing networks.

By integrating closed-loop fleet management with electric vehicle infrastructure, the company plans to establish operational predictability before scaling its asset footprint across other tier-one Indian metropolitan areas.
