BGauss has launched the Oowah electric scooter in India, positioned as a pop scooter range for younger consumers and first time EV buyers. The rollout comes as manufacturers push to reach mainstream users beyond early adopters, marking a shift in how entry level personal transport is designed and marketed in urban centers.
Electric Scooter Features
The scooter features a three kWh CAN enabled removable Lithium Iron Phosphate battery, offering an ARAI certified range of 145 km per charge. The removable battery design helps urban residents without home charging setups, allowing them to charge indoors.
The Oowah is available in four colors: Emerald Shadow, Jamun Punch, Zesty Red, and Tangy Toma. Utility features include reverse assist, distance to empty indicator, side stand sensor, USB charging, full LED lighting, and under seat storage for daily commutes.
The removable battery addresses a key challenge for apartment dwellers and city riders. Without fixed garage charging points, owners can detach the battery and charge it inside homes or offices. This approach fits the practical needs of urban riders in dense neighborhoods where traditional fueling infrastructure does not apply to EVs.
What is Scooter Price
BGauss has set up a scooter price lineup that targets different budget segments in growing EV market of India. The entry level Oowah starts at Rs 94,990, appealing to cost conscious buyers. For mid range commuters, the Max C12 is priced at Rs 1.08 lakh, balancing affordability with urban features. At the premium end, the RUV 350 goes up to Rs 1.44 lakh, offering a feature rich option for top tier buyers.
Leadership Vision
Hemant Kabra, Founder of BGauss, said younger buyers want products that combine style with utility. He noted the Oowah was designed to deliver reliable performance while matching lifestyle needs.
Market data shows electric two wheeler sales crossed 1.11 million units in the first seven months of the year, with penetration above 11% in July. BGauss aims to capture this demand by offering a scooter focused on self expression, range, and practicality. Analysts say brands must now differentiate through lifestyle appeal rather than only utilitarian features.
Market Expansion
The Oowah launch reflects a wider shift in India transport sector. EV adoption was earlier concentrated among delivery fleets and tech savvy urban users. Now, retail consumers see personal mobility as part of their identity. Bold colors and youthful design aim to replicate the cultural appeal of petrol scooters.
Digital displays, sensor diagnostics, and connectivity features meet the expectations of consumers used to smart devices. Tools like distance to empty and reverse assist make the transition from fuel scooters to EVs easier. As production scales, localized supply chains and design innovation are expected to sustain demand through festive seasons and upcoming quarters.
