Unilever International Names Pinkustar Borah as Digital Officer

Unilever Pinkustar Borah Digital Officer

FMCG major Unilever International has appointed Pinkustar Borah as its new Chief Digital and Technology Officer, based in Singapore. Borah steps into the global leadership role after a 19 year career at Hindustan Unilever Limited, where he led several technology and digital initiatives across core business functions. This new appointment reflects Unilever strategy of promoting proven regional technology leaders into global positions to strengthen its digital operations.

Career Background

Starting at Hindustan Unilever in 2007 as an IT executive, Pinkustar Borah built a career spanning IT operations, customer experience technology, supply chain integration, and enterprise digital management. His early assignments included managing IT logistics and supply chain systems at manufacturing sites in Doom Dooma, Assam, and Haldia, West Bengal.

Over nearly two decades, he advanced through senior roles such as Assistant IT Manager, Senior IT Manager for Customer Development, Head of IT at Unilever Nepal, and IT Business Partner for Unilever Sri Lanka.

Prior to taking over the global position at Unilever International, the executive served as Chief Digital and Information Officer for Personal Care and Customer Experience at Hindustan Unilever Limited from January 2025 to July 2026. In that capacity, oversight included route to market execution, e-commerce infrastructure, modern trade operations, digital B2B integration, and technology alignment during merger and acquisition activities.

Earlier leadership assignments also included serving as Director and Head of IT for Customer Experience across South Asia, managing secondary sales operations and customer facing digital architectures.

What Changes Next

Transitioning from domestic operations to an international division involves navigating complex regulatory frameworks, diverse regional markets, and multi country supply chains. Managing cross border digital systems requires balancing uniform global IT standards against localized consumer preferences and regional technology infrastructures.

Commenting on the career progression and international posting, Pinkustar Borah stated, "The transition marks a meaningful step forward, offering an opportunity to take on new challenges, new growth, new geographies, new cultures, and new learnings while continuing the journey with an organization and people known and trusted over many years."

The appointment highlights an ongoing industry focus on embedding executive technology leaders who possess deep operational domain expertise into global management roles. As international retail networks rely increasingly on real time data integration and digital route to market architecture, structural leadership across enterprise technology remains a core priority for global consumer brands.
