Tech-enabled logistics platform NimbusPost has appointed industry veteran Ankit Sood as its Chief Executive Officer. The hiring comes at a time when the shipping aggregator aims to deepen its technological footprint and capture a larger share of the expanding direct-to-consumer (D2C) merchant market in India.
The top-deck appointment is aligned with the company’s plans to transition into an automated intelligence platform. Sood brings over two decades of corporate experience across logistics, consumer internet, and enterprise technology sectors within India and the broader Asia-Pacific region.
Prior to this role, he managed senior leadership mandates at prominent new-age digital firms including rival shipping software Shiprocket, food delivery major Zomato, and hospitality chain OYO, steering operations through phases of geographical expansion and platform engineering under private equity and venture capital backing.
Shipping Ecosystem
The logistics ecosystem for digital-first brands has grown increasingly complex, requiring deeper technical interventions rather than simple courier aggregation. The company is currently preparing to roll out a revamped technology platform early next quarter, which will rely heavily on automated intelligence to streamline supply chain decisions for small and large merchants alike.
"Logistics operations for D2C brands today are fundamentally broken, often managing multiple courier partners, fragmented data streams, and manual processes that limit efficiency and growth," Ankit Sood, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of NimbusPost, stated. He pointed out that market consolidation and mature consumer habits necessitate a shift in how shipping vendors operate.
"As the D2C logistics market matures, competitive advantage will come not from network breadth alone, but from intelligent products, AI-driven decision-making, and the ability to serve as a true growth partner for brands.
NimbusPost is uniquely positioned to address these challenges at scale and help shape the future of logistics for digital-first businesses. I’m excited to join the company at this stage and be part of its next phase of growth," Sood added.
Investor Backing
The leadership transition has received strong backing from the company's ecosystem partners and investors, who view the executive movement as a step toward institutionalizing the platform's market presence. The focus on deploying advanced computational tools to solve merchant friction is seen as a priority to maintain operating margins in a highly competitive logistics technology market.
"Ankit’s deep experience across logistics, consumer internet, and technology businesses, combined with a strong track record of building and scaling high-growth organizations, makes him uniquely positioned to lead NimbusPost into its next phase," said Amitava Saha, Founder and CEO of Xpressbees, which is closely associated with the platform's strategic growth.
"As the logistics environment shifts, we are doubling down on innovation, AI-led intelligence, and customer-centric solutions, and Ankit’s leadership will be instrumental in helping us create greater value for our customers, partners, and the broader D2C ecosystem," Saha noted regarding the appointment.
Under the new executive leadership, the company intends to increase its capital and operational allocation toward automated shipping intelligence, a refreshed interface for independent sellers, and a more robust multi-courier routing matrix. The primary objective remains turning shipping fulfillment from a legacy cost center into a strategic operation for domestic retail brands.
