Direct-to-consumer fashion brand Virgio has promoted Hansa Nigam to Chief Marketing Officer. She joined the company in 2023 and will now lead overall marketing, customer growth, and brand building as the firm prepares for its next stage of expansion.
Leadership Role
Virgio is a Bengaluru-based fashion startup that focuses on sustainable clothing. It connects real-time demand with responsible material sourcing. By giving one leader charge of marketing, the company wants to strengthen its reach among urban consumers who prefer eco-friendly fashion with modern designs.
Before moving into the executive role, she played a key part in shaping the company early brand identity and digital engagement models. Her career includes important roles in major technology and digital media firms.
Over the past few years, we have built a brand that is not just responding to how consumers shop today, but reimagining how fashion can be discovered.— Hansa Nigam, CMO, Virgio
She managed consumer marketing for the OnePlus Nord portfolio across India and global markets at smartphone maker OnePlus, and also led digital campaigns for celebrity-driven projects at content platform Glance.
Sustainable Fashion
"I am honoured to take on this role at such an exciting stage in Virgio journey," Nigam stated regarding her appointment. "I am excited to continue building momentum, creating marketing that inspires people, strengthens our community, and helps shape the future of conscious fashion."
The broader fast-fashion sector in India faces structural criticism for waste and unclear production systems. To solve this, direct-to-consumer brands are using data to control stock and reduce unsold goods.
She earlier worked in strategic planning at creative agency The Glitch, where she made consumer plans for big FMCG brands. This experience is expected to help the startup turn tech-based production data into clear messages for customers.
The company strategy is based on demand-led manufacturing, where production follows real consumer data instead of seasonal guesses. As the brand works to grow its business and expand online, the marketing team will focus more on keeping customers for the long term. This will help balance rising marketing costs across Indian e-commerce platforms.
