Canon India Targets 10K Retailers Across 700 Cities by 2027

Canon India retail expansion

Canon India plans to expand its consumer printing retail network to more than 10,000 active retailers across 700 cities by the end of 2027, according to the company. The target would roughly double its current retail reach.

The expansion is expected to focus mainly on Tier II, Tier III and Tier IV markets. Canon India said its Consumer Printing business has been recording double-digit year-on-year growth, although it did not provide a specific growth figure.

The company is looking to increase product availability in smaller cities while expanding access across consumer, small and medium business, education, enterprise and institutional segments.

Canon Retail Expansion

Canon India currently operates more than 400 active PIXMA Zones across the country. It plans to add more than 500 PIXMA Zone Lite stores during the year as part of its retail expansion.

The company is also widening its distribution through multiple channels, including traditional resellers, large-format retail chains, e-commerce, quick commerce and enterprise-focused partners.

Its Canon eSHOP platform allows authorised resellers to display and sell Canon products online. The company is using the platform alongside its physical retail network as it expands its distribution coverage.

Smaller Cities Expansion

Canon said printing requirements are changing across households, schools, small businesses and larger organisations. It has linked the expansion in smaller cities to growth in entrepreneurship, digital adoption and education-related demand.

The company plans to use its larger retail network to improve product availability and provide customers with access to product consultations and after-sales support.

The expansion is also being accompanied by investments in product development, digital commerce and channel capabilities. Canon has not disclosed the investment amount planned specifically for the retail expansion.

Canon Partner Network

Canon India currently has more than 5,000 active reseller partners under its Canon Passport Program. The programme operates through a digital platform that provides rewards and engagement features for channel partners.

The company has also introduced BizBee for its B2B partner network. The programme covers system integrators, value-added resellers and other business partners.

BizBee provides access to incentives, product and solution training, technical certifications, business resources and digital tools. Canon said the programme is intended to support its B2B channel across enterprise, education and institutional markets.

New Markets Target

The retail expansion comes as Canon looks to increase its presence outside larger urban centres. Toshiaki Nomura, President and CEO of Canon India, said the company sees new centres of enterprise and consumption emerging in smaller markets.

“India is central to Canon’s long-term growth ambitions,” Nomura said, adding that the company plans to build a network of more than 10,000 active retailers across 700 cities by 2027.

He said the company expects the network to give customers access to product experience and guidance through local retail outlets.

Printing Business Reach

Canon is combining its physical retail expansion with online sales and partner-led distribution. The strategy gives the company several routes to reach consumers and business customers across different markets.

The planned addition of more than 500 PIXMA Zone Lite stores, along with the longer-term target of 10,000 retailers, will increase the number of physical points where Canon printing products are available.

For the B2B segment, the company is separately expanding its partner network through BizBee, while its existing Canon Passport Program continues to serve reseller partners.

Canon has not provided a city-wise breakdown of the planned 700-city network or specified how many new retailers will be added in each market. The company has also not disclosed a separate revenue target linked to the expansion.
