iPhone 16 Delivery race: On September 20, customers eagerly lined up for the launch of the iPhone 16. Quick commerce platforms Bigbasket and Blinkit engaged in a fierce competition to deliver the phones as quickly as possible. Both companies reported reaching the 300 sales mark within hours of the launch, but Bigbasket emerged as the leader by a narrow margin.
Bigbasket Takes the Lead
Hari Menon, co-founder of Bigbasket, shared the exciting news that the platform sold 372 iPhones in just 100 minutes. He celebrated the achievement by posting on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the fast-paced success of their first iPhone 16 delivery.
Blinkit Not Far Behind
Meanwhile, Albinder Dhindsa, CEO of Blinkit, confirmed that they began delivering iPhones at 8 a.m. on launch day. He indicated that Blinkit would also soon cross the 300 sales mark. By 10:30 a.m., Dhindsa noted that they were selling approximately one iPhone per minute since the sale started.
Sales Performance Comparison
Bigbasket’s performance was impressive, with sales clocking in at three iPhones per minute. They announced, “Already sold 100+ iPhones, clocking in 3 per minute!! If you want an iPhone 16 now, you’ll get it now!” This competitive spirit highlights the efficiency of both platforms.
Partnerships for Delivery
To enhance their iPhone 16 delivery capabilities, Blinkit partnered with Unicorn stores, making the iPhone 16 available in major cities like Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Pune, and Bengaluru, with the starting price set at ₹79,900 for the base model. Bigbasket, on the other hand, collaborated with Croma to offer the same model in Delhi-NCR and Mumbai, but not in Pune.
Other Quick Commerce Players
Several other quick commerce platforms, including Zepto and Flipkart Minutes, also joined the rush to deliver the iPhone 16 swiftly. Currently, Zepto is providing deliveries only in Hyderabad and Chennai.
The launch of the iPhone 16 has sparked intense competition among quick commerce platforms, with Bigbasket and Blinkit leading the way in speedy deliveries. As more players enter the market, customers can expect even faster service for their tech needs.
