Burma Burma, a well-known restaurant chain, show big growth in last year. The company revenue from food business go up 47% compared to last year, crossing Rs 150 crore mark in financial year ending March 2026 (FY26). As per official record, the company make Rs 155.6 crore in FY26, while last year figure was Rs 106 crore.

But with fast growth, the company also spend more money on opening new outlet. Because of this, cost for property and equipment almost double. These higher expenses affect profit, and the company move away from earlier position where it was close to break-even.

Revenue Model

Study of city-wise performance show that Bengaluru remain main market for Burma Burma, giving more than 32% of total earning, near Rs 50 crore. Mumbai come second with Rs 38.4 crore. Delhi and Gurugram add near Rs 15 crore each. Other money come from outlet in Hyderabad, Noida, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, and Chandigarh.

In type of business, dine-in remain main source, giving 82% of total earning at Rs 128 crore. Online delivery platform adds Rs 15.9 crore.

Company expense detail show that staff benefit and material cost together make more than 44% of total spend in this period. Staff cost grow 44% year-on-year to Rs 48.5 crore. Material cost go up 50% to Rs 30 crore. Rent for restaurant place rise 43% to Rs 8.3 crore. Marketing spend double to Rs 5.6 crore in this year.

Cost Increase Reason

Higher spend on power, fuel, utility, and transport push total cost up near 60% year-on-year, going to Rs 175.4 crore from Rs 110 crore in FY25. Fast rise in cost go ahead of earning growth, mainly because of depreciation expense that jump to Rs 40.8 crore.

Due to this, net loss grows to Rs 14.5 crore in FY26 from Rs 2.5 crore last year. On unit level, detail show that chain spend Rs 1.13 to earn every one rupee of revenue in this year.

Even with pressure on profit, main business numbers still show growth. The company report 35% year-on-year rise in EBITDA, reaching Rs 29 crore, with margin of 18.65%. Return on capital stay at -10.1% because big money go into new outlet. Till March 2026, the company keep Rs 18 crore in cash and bank, with total current asset at Rs 24.6 crore.

A senior company officer says, “Loss number look big because of heavy spend on new setup, but main business remains strong. Our core earning grow well, showing that demand for our brand stay high as we open more outlet in big city.”

This big spend time also match with new support from investor. The company get $4 million fund in March this year, with value of Rs 500 crore. With this deal, total outside fund for the brand reach $11 million. This money gives needed cash to keep growth in many cities.
