Anthropic Rolls Out Rupee Pricing Plans for Claude AI

Anthropic Claude AI Pricing

Artificial intelligence research company Anthropic has started rolling out Indian Rupee (INR) pricing for its Claude subscription plans. This change allows users in India to see and pay fees in their local currency instead of US dollars, making transactions easier for the company’s second largest market globally.

New pricing has begun showing on the Claude website and mobile apps, though the company has not confirmed if the rollout has reached all Indian users.

The updated pricing covers retail, power user, and organizational tiers. At the consumer level, the Claude Pro plan costs Rs 2,399 per month on monthly billing. If paid annually, it comes to Rs 24,000 upfront, which works out to Rs 2,000 per month. Both options give five times the usage of the free tier.

Subscription Plans

For advanced users who need more capacity, Anthropic has introduced higher plans. The Claude Max 5x plan costs Rs 11,999 per month and gives five times the Pro allowance. The Claude Max 20x plan costs Rs 23,999 per month and gives twenty times the Pro allowance.

Subscribers to these Pro and Max tiers get access to advanced Claude models and productivity tools like Claude Code, Claude Cowork, Claude Design, and Claude Science. They also get integrations with Microsoft 365 workflows. The Max plans are designed for developers and researchers who need longer sessions, priority access during busy times, and higher output limits.

An Anthropic statement said, “India has become an important hub for advanced AI use, especially among technical professionals. By moving to rupee pricing for our Pro, Max, and Team tiers, we want to remove currency conversion issues for Indian users. This update makes access to advanced models and tools like Claude Code easier with localized billing.”

Low Pricing Plans

The platform enterprise offerings are split into two levels. The Team Standard plan costs Rs 2,999 per user each month on monthly billing. Under annual billing, the cost comes down to Rs 2,399 per user per month. This plan gives small and mid sized teams a shared usage pool.

Meanwhile, the high-capacity Team Premium tier is positioned at Rs 14,999 per user per month on a monthly basis, discounting to Rs 11,999 per user per month annually, to deliver five times the capacity of the Standard tier.

These organizational plans come with admin controls, single sign on access, and a privacy guarantee that customer data will not be used to train Anthropic models by default.

Where is Friction

Even after showing prices in Indian format and adding local taxes at checkout, Anthropic has not added UPI, which is India main digital payment system. Because of this, web purchases still need credit or debit cards that can handle international or recurring payments. On mobile apps, however, users can bypass this by using the built in payment systems of Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

India makes up 5.8 percent of Claude global consumer traffic, making it the second largest market after the United States. The user base here is highly technical, with software tasks forming 45.2 percent of all mapped activity. This is the highest share of technical usage among all global markets studied by the company.

Anthropic set up an office in Bengaluru in February 2026 to support its growing user base in India. The company said its local revenue run rate had doubled in the six months before the office launch. The latest move to adjust pricing for India is part of its wider plan to expand deeper into the country technology ecosystem.
