Italian PM Giorgia Meloni has shared a video featuring herself alongside PM Narendra Modi during the recently concluded G7 Summit in Italy. In the video, PM Modi waves at the camera as Meloni introduces their camaraderie with a friendly “Hello from the Melodi team.” This light-hearted moment was shared on Meloni’s social media platforms, including X and Instagram.
Meloni captioned the video with “Hi friends, from #Melodi,” a hashtag that quickly trended on X. Around 1.5 hours later, PM Modi replied to Meloni’s post on X with “Long live India-Italy friendship!” affirming the warmth of their relationship.
During the summit, both leaders also took a selfie together, adding to their history of informal interactions at global events like the G20 Summit in Delhi and COP28 in Dubai, where they previously clicked selfies.
Their friendship has sparked numerous memes online, and photos of their meetings often circulate widely with the hashtag “Melodi.”
During their bilateral discussions at the G7 Summit, PM Modi and Meloni focused on enhancing defence and security cooperation between India and Italy. The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that both leaders discussed various aspects of bilateral defence and security, expressing mutual interest in boosting collaboration in defence industries.
They also welcomed the upcoming visit of the Italian aircraft carrier ITS Cavour and training ship ITS Vespucci to India later this year.
In addition, PM Modi expressed appreciation to the Italian Government for recognizing the contributions of the Indian Army during World War II, specifically during the Italian Campaign.
This friendly exchange highlights the growing strategic partnership and mutual respect between India and Italy, showcased through both formal bilateral discussions and personal interactions shared on digital platforms.
