InCred Capital Appoints Abhinav Khanna as Capital Markets CEO

InCred Capital appointments

InCred Capital has appointed Abhinav Khanna as chief executive officer of its capital markets business and Abhimanyu Kalra as managing director and co-head of equities, as the financial services firm expands its institutional equities operations.

The appointments come as InCred Capital plans to increase its presence in the institutional equities segment over the next five years. The company said it will invest in technology, execution infrastructure and overseas operations as part of the expansion.

Khanna joins the business with more than 25 years of experience in financial markets across India, the UK and the Middle East. He most recently worked as managing director and chief business officer at ValueQuest Investment Advisors.

InCred Equities Team

Before ValueQuest, Khanna spent more than a decade at Citigroup Global Markets, where he served as managing director and head of equities for India. His experience covers institutional equity markets and relationships with market participants.

Kalra brings more than 23 years of experience in equity markets. He spent 18 years at Nomura, where he worked with global and domestic asset managers and developed institutional investor relationships.

The company has also appointed Arunava Das as CEO of InCred Capital USA as it starts operations in the US. Das was earlier CEO of JM Financial’s North America business and has also held senior positions at JPMorgan Chase and Edelweiss Capital.

Market Infrastructure

Along with the senior appointments, InCred Capital is putting money into technology and execution systems for its capital markets operations. The planned investments cover order management, research distribution, institutional sales and trading, block execution and algorithmic trading.

The business works with institutional investors including mutual funds, insurance companies, pension funds, foreign portfolio investors, global long-only investors and hedge funds. The company said the expansion is aimed at increasing its institutional equities market share over the next five years.

InCred Group founder and group CEO Bhupinder Singh said the firm is increasing its focus on capital markets as the Indian market grows and institutional participation rises. “We are making a big bet on Capital Markets,” Singh said.

Targets Institutional Growth

Singh said the company aims to build one of the leading institutional equities businesses in India. The company has not disclosed a specific revenue or market-share target for the expansion.

Focus on institutional equities comes alongside the launch of the US business. The move gives InCred Capital an overseas presence as it seeks to work with international investors and expand its institutional market operations.

New leadership structure places experienced executives across the India equities business and the US operation. Their roles cover capital markets management, equities and international expansion.
