BikeWo Green has partnered with Yubhas Renewables to begin operational testing of solar assisted electric three wheelers. The project is aimed at meeting the logistics and transport needs of rural and semi urban markets. Under the agreement, BikeWo will use its rider network and infrastructure to test these vehicles in real commercial conditions before moving to a full market launch.
EV Pilot Parameters
The pilot programme is designed to thoroughly test both the technical and economic viability of the solar assisted three wheelers. Engineering teams will track factors like battery efficiency, range extension from solar inputs, payload capacity, ride quality, and thermal performance in high temperatures.
They’ll also assess braking efficiency, maintenance costs, and the reliability of the powertrain across tough rural terrains. Feedback from BikeWo’s rider network will serve as the main dataset for Yubhas Renewables to refine the product design before moving to a full commercial rollout.
Beyond technical validation, the partnership also aims to build a socio economic framework that ties clean mobility to rural job creation. BikeWo and Yubhas are designing a rural development programme to train local youth in specialized technical and operational roles.
Curriculum will cover vehicle mechanics, predictive maintenance, customer service, and basic micro business management, with the goal of equipping participants to independently run small scale logistics operations.
How to Finance
To ensure long-term viability, the partnership is exploring avenues to facilitate asset ownership for the trained youth. Eligible participants in the training programme will be guided to access credit facilities under the Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana, subject to standard banking approvals and eligibility criteria.
By enabling a transition from standard delivery riders to owner-operators, the initiative seeks to create self-sustaining livelihoods. The deployed fleet is projected to service passenger transport, agricultural supply chains, village e-commerce deliveries, and rural healthcare logistics.

This project is tackling a key gap in Indian EV ecosystem, where most last mile delivery solutions have focused on tier one cities. Rural markets face unique hurdles like patchy charging infrastructure and rough, unpaved roads that standard EVs struggle with. By adding solar assisted charging, the vehicles aim to ease range anxiety and cut reliance on grid connected charging stations, making them more practical for rural logistics.
