BCCI Sets Rs 4.9 Cr Base Price for New Sponsorship Rights

BCCI Sponsorship Rights Base Price

BCCI has raised the base valuation for its title sponsorship rights by over 15 percent as it invites bids for the upcoming 2026–28 commercial cycle. The governing body has fixed a minimum floor price of Rs 4.9 crore per home international match, up from the Rs 4.2 crore per match benchmark set during the previous rights cycle with IDFC FIRST Bank.

The upcoming commercial contract, spanning from the 2026–27 home season until March 2028, will encompass approximately 35 home international fixtures. Under this projected schedule, the base floor value for the title rights stands at roughly Rs 171 crore, comparing with the earlier deal that covered 56 matches valued at Rs 235.2 crore.

Simultaneously, the reserve price for associate partner rights has been revised upward to Rs 95 lakh per match from Rs 82 lakh, establishing an estimated floor of Rs 33.3 crore per associate slot for the designated schedule.

Shorter Cycle Terms

The decision to limit the contract length to a shorter timeframe represents a deliberate effort to synchronize the expiration of multiple key commercial assets. Major existing agreements, including the apparel rights deal.

Adidas and the official partnership with Apollo Tyres, are set to conclude around March 2028. Aligning these timelines allows the sporting body to bundle and bring multiple marquee properties to the commercial market at the same time.

BCCI seems to have opted for a shorter rights cycle this time so that it doesn’t lock itself into a longer-term deal at today’s rates, and can reprice its inventory sooner if the sponsorship market strengthens.

Advertisers continue to reallocate sports marketing funds heavily toward franchise T20 tournaments, which often generate higher viewer engagement and stronger commercial returns than bilateral Test and ODI series.

Industry executives see the Rs 4.9 crore rights acquisition threshold as an ambitious baseline in today’s market, with final outcomes likely to depend on how intense the bidding gets during the tender process. The higher floor price signals confidence that home international cricket rights continue to hold strong pricing power among Indian sports marketing assets.

According to official tender documentation, technical and financial bids for the title sponsorship rights are scheduled to close on August 13. Quotations for the associate partner rights are scheduled for submission by August 25.
