Pronto Scales Wearable AI Camera Feature in Verified Plan

Pronto AI Camera

Home services startup Pronto has confirmed the expansion of its wearable AI camera initiative, Pronto Verified, across residential bookings. The opt in service utilizes recording devices worn by service professionals to create visual logs of home maintenance work while gathering anonymized visual data for machine learning model development.

Under the framework, customers choose to opt into Verified sessions, which provide a recorded log of the service process. In exchange for accepting recorded bookings, service professionals receive increased compensation, earning approximately double the rate of a standard assignment.

Platform confirmed that customer consent is obtained at multiple stages during the booking process and reaffirmed in person prior to initiating the service, with users retaining the option to decline recording and select a standard booking at any time.

Body AI Camera

Data collection methods for the initiative rely on body worn cameras designed to record video without audio capture. According to operational protocols detailed by the company, raw footage is encrypted on device, automatically deleted immediately following job completion, and never accessed by human reviewers.

Only anonymized video streams, where facial features and personally identifiable information are removed, are retained for system processing.

Body-wear camera is a recording device. We use the anonymized footage for AI training and this is disclosed in our T&C.

"The camera is a recording device, and its only on device intelligence is encryption. But yes, we are scaling Pronto Verified. We use the anonymized footage for AI training and this is disclosed in our terms and conditions," stated Anjali Sardana, Founder at Pronto.

Customers are provided a 48-hour window to review anonymized session recordings before the footage is ingested into algorithmic training pipelines. Addressing privacy considerations regarding family members or visitors present in private residences.

Over privacy concerns, company stated that primary account holders confirm consent on behalf of household occupants during booking. Additionally, hardware angles are restricted to point downward toward the physical work area, targeting hands and equipment rather than broader living environments.

Privacy Concerns

Addressing past industry scrutiny regarding home recording practices, the company reported encouraging engagement with regulatory stakeholders and partners, noting that earlier public concerns stemmed largely from misunderstandings regarding disclosure mechanisms.

Disclosure workflows have since been updated to provide explicit notifications at multiple user touchpoints. The initiative illustrates an ongoing effort among service platforms to leverage physical environment data to train automation models while offering financial incentives to service partners.
