Lenskart Raises Stake in AjnaLens Parent Dimension NXG to 9%

Lenskart Stake AjnaLens NXG

Lenskart is increasing its exposure to smart eyewear by raising its stake in extended reality startup Dimension NXG, the parent company of AjnaLens. The eyewear company has invested another Rs 8 crore in the startup, taking its holding to 9.01%.

According to a regulatory filing, Lenskart Solutions acquired a 1.8% additional stake in Dimension NXG for Rs 7.99 crore. The transaction was completed on September 13, 2026, marking the third time this year that Lenskart has increased its investment in the company.

The latest purchase takes Lenskart holding from 7.21% to 9.01%. Before the three transactions made this year, the eyewear company held a 4.84% stake in Dimension NXG. In total, Lenskart has spent about Rs 18.5 crore to acquire an additional 4.17% interest.

Lenskart Deepens Investment

The repeated investments point to a growing strategic relationship between Lenskart and the technology startup. Lenskart said the latest investment will strengthen its association with the extended reality, artificial intelligence and smart wearable technology ecosystem.

The focus is particularly relevant as eyewear companies explore products that combine traditional frames with digital features. For Lenskart, the investment also supports its efforts to build technology-led opportunities in smart eyewear.

The company first invested in AjnaLens in July 2025. The partnership was aimed at developing AI-powered smart glasses by bringing together Lenskart expertise in frame design and engineering with AjnaLens capabilities in extended reality technology.

NXG Builds XR Technology

Dimension NXG operates through the AjnaLens brand and develops hardware and software based on extended reality technology. Its products and solutions are used across areas including defence and enterprise applications.

The startup was founded in 2014 by Pankaj Raut, Abhijit Patil and Abhishek Tomar. Its work covers both the hardware and software sides of XR, giving Lenskart access to technology capabilities beyond conventional eyewear manufacturing and retail.

However, the business has also seen a decline in turnover. The parent company reported turnover of Rs 10.36 crore in FY26, compared with Rs 15.97 crore in FY24, representing a decline of around 35%.

Smart Eyewear Gets Focus

Lenskart is increasing its focus on smart eyewear as technology becomes a larger part of its product strategy. The company has already introduced products such as Phonic audio glasses and is working on AI-powered smart glasses.

Its smart-glasses plans also include a technology partnership with Qualcomm. The collaboration is aimed at building the technology stack required for the next generation of connected eyewear.

The investment in Dimension NXG therefore goes beyond a conventional financial stake. It gives Lenskart a closer connection with a company working in XR, AI and wearable technology, areas that could influence how eyewear products develop in the coming years.

Lenskart Technology Portfolio

The three stake purchases in Dimension NXG during 2026 show that Lenskart has continued to increase its financial involvement rather than treating its earlier investment as a one-time partnership.

The company has raised its holding by more than four percentage points since the start of the year, while the total investment in the additional stake has reached Rs 18.5 crore. The latest transaction alone adds 1.8% to its ownership.

For Dimension NXG, the investment provides continued backing from a large eyewear player as it works across XR hardware and software. For Lenskart, the association offers access to technology that can complement its existing strengths in eyewear design, engineering and distribution.

Future Eyewear is Target

The smart-eyewear market is moving beyond simple audio products towards devices that can combine AI, computing and wearable functions. Lenskart recent investments and product development indicate that the company wants to participate in this shift rather than remain focused only on conventional optical and fashion eyewear.

The higher stake in Dimension NXG also gives Lenskart a stronger position in a technology ecosystem that includes XR and AI. Whether these investments translate into commercially successful smart-eyewear products will depend on product adoption, pricing and the ability to make the technology useful in everyday life.
