Beauty and wellness chain Bodycraft has raised Rs 120 crore in a fresh funding round led by Mumbai-based private equity firm Singularity AMC. The growth-stage and pre-IPO focused investor spearheaded the investment to backing the clinical aesthetics and salon operator's domestic expansion plans.
The transaction marks the company’s first major capital infusion in nearly nine years, following an Rs 18-crore raise at a pre-money valuation of Rs 55 crore back in 2017. The management intends to allocate the fresh capital toward expanding geographic presence, upgrading clinical technology, onboarding senior personnel, and deploying software tools to improve overall operational efficiency.
Scaling Footprint
Bodycraft was founded in 1997 by Manjul Gupta, the company has grown from a single salon into an integrated clinical and grooming network. It currently manages 67 outlets across more than 10 cities, split into 33 medical aesthetics clinics and 34 styling salons. Operationally, the firm utilizes a hybrid model comprising both company-owned, company-operated units alongside franchise-driven establishments.
The immediate growth blueprint involves adding 30 new strategic locations across primary and secondary urban markets. Industry estimates project that India's clinical aesthetics sector will expand from $2 billion in 2024 to over $7 billion by 2033, driven by rising disposable incomes and changing consumer perceptions toward personal grooming and clinical skincare treatments.
Clinical Infrastructure
The capital injection will heavily support infrastructural developments within the medical aesthetics vertical, which requires specialized equipment and trained clinical professionals. The business is currently led by Chief Executive Officer Sahil Gupta and Medical Director Dr. Mikki Singh, who manages the core clinical division.
"The domestic clinical aesthetics market is at an inflection point, transitioning rapidly toward structured, institutional networks," stated Sahil Gupta, Chief Executive Officer of Bodycraft, in an official communication regarding the funding. "This institutional backing allows us to accelerate our expansion velocity, procure next-generation diagnostic equipment, and embed automated workflow systems to enhance customer retention."
