The government is taking a big step to boost the interactive entertainment sector by supporting over 2,000 startups. This initiative aims to grow India’s interactive entertainment market, which is expected to reach $60 billion by 2034 and create over 20 lakh jobs.
DPIIT and WinZO Collaboration
To achieve this goal, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has partnered with WinZO, a social gaming and interactive entertainment platform. Together, they will focus on mentoring startups, students, and innovators. The initiative also provides access to global opportunities and industry insights, helping entrepreneurs build successful businesses.
Bridging the Talent Gap
One key focus of the program is closing the skill gap in the gaming industry. According to Sanjiv Singh, Joint Secretary of DPIIT, the partnership will help professionals gain advanced skills in coding, animation, game design, and development.
Hackathons, workshops, accelerator programs, and pitch events will play an important role in nurturing talent and supporting startups. This will ensure the creation of a skilled workforce ready to meet industry demands.
Center of Excellence
The DPIIT-WinZO collaboration will establish a Center of Excellence (CoE) to serve as a hub for startups and entrepreneurs. This center will focus on building an industry-ready workforce, fostering innovation, and providing startups with the tools they need to compete globally.
India’s interactive entertainment sector is positioning itself as a leader in the $300 billion global gaming market. By fostering innovation, encouraging foreign direct investment, and supporting intellectual property creation, the initiative is paving the way for India to claim a significant share of the global market.
Saumya Singh Rathore, Co-founder of WinZO, stated that the initiative will lay the foundation for a new era of interactive entertainment. With skilled talent and future-ready solutions, India is set to make its mark on the global stage.
Commitment to Entrepreneurs
The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurs and startups. Dr. Sumeet Kumar Jarangal, Director of Startup India, highlighted that this collaboration shows India’s dedication to building a thriving ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship.
The partnership between DPIIT and WinZO is a game-changer for India’s interactive entertainment industry. By supporting over 2,000 startups, nurturing talent, and promoting innovation, this initiative will strengthen India’s position as a global leader in gaming and interactive entertainment.
