The DPIIT (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade) has partnered with the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) to support climatetech startups in India. This two-year agreement focuses on boosting innovation and entrepreneurship in clean energy and green manufacturing. The aim is to help startups grow faster by giving them access to funding, mentorship, and market support.
As part of the partnership, GEAPP will launch the Energy Transitions Innovation Challenge (ENTICE), a new competition offering up to $500,000 in total rewards. The challenge will look for startups creating impactful clean energy technologies. Winners will also get investment support from GEAPP’s partners such as Spectrum Impact and Avana Capital.
Startup India Joins In
DPIIT will link the initiative with its Startup India network and promote the challenge through major government programs. This move will help identify and grow early-stage climatetech startups. The program aims to build a strong pipeline of startups that are scalable, ready for investment, and aligned with India’s net-zero targets.
By using its wide policy and innovation network, DPIIT will help more entrepreneurs join the program. The department will also include the initiative in its main innovation and manufacturing schemes. DPIIT’s Joint Secretary, Sanjiv, said this partnership will give clean-energy startups the tools and support they need to help India reach its climate goals.
Global And Local Teams Unite
Saurabh Kumar, Vice President of GEAPP India, called this agreement an important step toward change. He said GEAPP’s international experience, combined with DPIIT’s strong national reach, will help create many new opportunities for climate-focused startups.
This collaboration comes at a time when India is trying to reduce carbon emissions while still growing its economy. With climate-focused funding on the rise and India’s 2070 net-zero goal, this partnership shows how startups can lead in building a cleaner, greener future.
