DPIIT (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade), part of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, has joined hands with the SPF (Startup Policy Forum) to support startups. This collaboration is a major step towards making India a global leader in innovation and entrepreneurship. SPF represents some of India’s most successful startups and works to support new-age businesses.

National Startup Week

A key highlight of this partnership is the SPF Startup Baithak, an event scheduled for January 15-16, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam. The event is part of National Startup Week and will bring together DPIIT and SPF members. It will serve as a platform to showcase innovative ideas, announce new initiatives, and build impactful partnerships.

Connecting Global Investors

The partnership will also create special programs to connect global investors with Indian startups. These programs aim to increase India’s visibility in the global innovation landscape. They will help domestic startups build strong relationships with international investors and stakeholders, enabling growth and expansion.

Sanjiv, Joint Secretary of Startup India, highlighted the importance of this collaboration. He said, “This partnership with SPF shows DPIIT’s dedication to creating a supportive environment for startups. SPF members represent the entrepreneurial spirit of India and play a key role in achieving our goal of a developed nation by 2047.”

Vision for a Startup Ecosystem

Shweta Rajpal Kohli, President and CEO of SPF, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership. She stated, “This alliance reflects a shared vision to nurture a strong startup ecosystem. By working together, we aim to place India prominently on the global innovation map and help entrepreneurs reach their full potential.”

Sumeet Kumar Jarangal, Director of Startup India, added, “This initiative focuses on boosting innovation, encouraging technology adoption, and strengthening India’s manufacturing sector. By partnering with SPF, we aim to promote Indian startups globally and enhance relationships with international stakeholders.”

Role in Supporting Startups

SPF is a leading industry alliance that represents top startups like Razorpay, Zerodha, Swiggy, and Dream11. It advocates for policy changes to support startups, promotes India’s startup ecosystem on a global scale, and fosters a strong community of entrepreneurs. SPF works to help startups grow both domestically and internationally.

This partnership between DPIIT and SPF is expected to strengthen India’s position as a global hub for innovation. By fostering collaborations, connecting startups with global investors, and promoting technology adoption, this initiative will pave the way for a more robust and thriving startup ecosystem in India.
