Kouzina Food Tech, one of India’s fastest-growing food service platforms, has officially signed a strategic agreement with Swiggy to take over the exclusive licensing of several of its popular digital-first food brands. These include The Bowl Company, Homely, Soul Rasa, and Istah. This move marks a major milestone in the Indian food delivery and cloud kitchen industry.
As per the new agreement, Kouzina will take full responsibility for managing daily operations, business growth, and product innovation of these Swiggy brands. The agreement includes a plan where full ownership of these food brands will be transferred to Kouzina once certain pre-agreed conditions are fulfilled. This strategic partnership strengthens Kouzina’s position in the food delivery space and aligns with its long-term vision for growth.
The Bowl Company at Centre of Deal
Among all the brands, The Bowl Company is the most recognized, having gained widespread popularity since its launch by Swiggy in 2017. Known for its single-serve rice bowls designed for Indian tastes, its menu features favourites like Peri Peri Chicken Rice Bowl and Dhaba Style Dal Tadka Rice Bowl. The brand is especially popular among college students and working professionals. Kouzina is now preparing to relaunch The Bowl Company this week, with plans to bring it to more cities in India.
Gautam Balijepalli, Co-founder and CEO of Kouzina, shared that the company will scale these food brands using an asset-light expansion model. This means they will rely on existing kitchen partners and delivery infrastructure instead of building new facilities. Homely, one of the newly acquired brands, is already live in select Bengaluru locations, and more rollouts are on the way.
Swiggy Trusts Kouzina with Brand Growth
Arpit Mathur, Vice President at Swiggy, said that these food brands were originally created to address the lack of restaurant supply and meet the increasing demand for quick and affordable food. He expressed confidence in Kouzina’s ability to take these brands to the next level, thanks to their strong digital-first strategy and efficient kitchen network.
Kouzina has been growing rapidly in recent years. Founded by alumni from IIT, IIM, and leaders from Ola, Flipkart, and Amazon, the company now works with over 250 kitchen partners in more than 100 cities. Its growing brand portfolio includes everything from affordable meals and thalis to premium bowls and international dishes. Recent acquisitions include Vasudev Adiga’s and Shark Tank-featured MOPP Foods. With this new licensing deal, Kouzina strengthens its grip on the Indian food market and sets itself up for faster national growth.
