Blinkit Expands to 30-Minute Deliveries for Premium Goods

Share post:

Blinkit, a popular quick-delivery platform owned by Zomato, is planning to offer 30-minute deliveries for high-value products like instant water heaters, jewelry, and air purifiers, according to recent reports. Known for its 10-minute grocery delivery, Blinkit is now aiming to provide faster delivery of premium goods, expanding its services to meet a new segment of customer demand.

Setting Up Larger Express Dark Stores

To handle this shift into premium products, Blinkit is setting up larger express dark stores, which are special warehouses that serve as fulfillment centers for online orders. The new dark stores will be between 7,000 and 8,000 square feet, significantly larger than its current stores, which range from 3,000 to 4,000 square feet. These larger spaces will allow Blinkit to stock bulkier items like home appliances, helping them meet the needs of customers who want faster access to premium goods.

Competing with E-Commerce Giants

Blinkit’s move to deliver premium products within 30 minutes is seen as a strategy to compete directly with large e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart. By establishing bigger dark stores and focusing on high-value items, Blinkit aims to become a key player in the fast-paced delivery market for premium goods. This shift is expected to improve Blinkit’s overall profitability and diversify its offerings.

Focus on Optimizing Supply Chain

Blinkit’s expansion into premium deliveries is also part of its plan to optimize its supply chain. By building larger storage facilities and managing a wider range of products, the company will be able to better serve a broader range of customer needs, from daily essentials to high-value goods. This bold move shows Blinkit’s commitment to enhancing its services and maintaining its position in the highly competitive e-commerce and delivery space.
