Amazon India to Launch Quick Commerce Service ‘Tez’

Share post:

Amazon India is set to enter the growing quick commerce market with a new delivery service called “Tez.” This move marks Amazon’s effort to compete with existing players like Zepto, Blinkit, and Swiggy Instamart. According to reports, Tez may launch by late December 2024 or early next year, accelerating its initial 2025 timeline.

Competition in Quick Commerce

The quick commerce industry in India is rapidly expanding, with Zepto emerging as a key player. Backed by over $1.3 billion in funding, Zepto has become a leader in the 10-minute delivery segment. Other companies like Blinkit and Tata Digital’s Neu Flash are also competing to dominate this fast-paced market.

Amazon’s primary rival, Flipkart, has already introduced its own quick delivery service, Flipkart Minutes, which has been rolled out to several major cities. Amazon’s entry with Tez is expected to further heat up the competition, offering customers even more choices for speedy deliveries.

Tez to Focus on Groceries and Essentials

Reports suggest that Tez will begin by focusing on groceries and daily essentials, much like its competitors. Amazon plans to implement an infrastructure model similar to others in the market. This includes setting up dark stores, improving stock-keeping units (SKUs), and expanding its logistics network to ensure faster deliveries.

Building Infrastructure for Fast Deliveries

To support this ambitious project, Amazon is actively hiring for the development of Tez. Job postings describe the service as a “ground-up initiative” aimed at redefining delivery speeds. The company is also investing in modern technology and infrastructure to provide a seamless experience to its customers.

Amazon Set to Transform Quick Commerce

With Tez, Amazon India is poised to challenge established players in the quick commerce sector, offering Indian customers a new option for rapid grocery and essentials delivery. This step reflects the ecommerce giant’s commitment to staying competitive and innovative in a fast-changing market.
