The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) is set to partner with Medical Excellence Japan (MEJ) to develop a dedicated Japanese medical device manufacturing cluster near Noida International Airport. The initiative aims to position the region as a leading hub for high-end medical technology and advanced manufacturing in India.
According to officials quoted by Hindustan Times, Yeida plans to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with MEJ during the visit of a Japanese delegation next month. The agreement marks a significant step in global collaboration under the “Make in India” initiative and is expected to attract major Japanese healthcare technology companies to the area.
Japanese Medical Cluster
During recent interactions, MEJ officials met Yeida CEO R.K. Singh and senior delegates to finalise the details of the proposed MoU. The discussions focused on partnership frameworks, technology sharing, and potential collaborations in high-precision medical equipment manufacturing.
Shailendra Bhatia, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at Yeida, confirmed that the collaboration follows a high-level visit last week by a Japanese delegation that identified the region as a strategic growth centre for advanced medical technology. “This development represents a major step toward establishing the region as a hub for advanced healthcare innovation,” Bhatia was quoted as saying.
Medical Devices Park
The upcoming MoU will directly support the development of Yeida’s Medical Devices Park in Sector 29, located close to the Noida International Airport. The facility is designed to host research, design, and production units from leading Japanese manufacturers and Indian partners.
Officials said the collaboration will facilitate technology transfer, cross-border research, and joint ventures between Japanese and Indian firms. It is also expected to boost exports to Japan’s specialised healthcare market, enhancing India’s position in the global medical device supply chain.
Make in India Initiative
Yeida CEO R.K. Singh said the partnership with MEJ is likely to be a turning point for India’s medical device sector. “This initiative will accelerate innovation and create a sophisticated healthcare manufacturing ecosystem, reinforcing our role as a key global location for high-quality medical technology production,” Singh said.
Following the MoU signing, a delegation of leading Japanese medical device companies will visit the area to explore co-manufacturing and investment opportunities. The visit aims to further strengthen industrial ties and promote sustainable growth in the healthcare technology domain.
