Zomato Co-founder Akriti Chopra Resigns to Explore New Interests

Akriti Chopra, Co-founder and Chief People Officer (CPO) of Zomato, has officially resigned from the food delivery company, effective September 27, 2024. The company, led by Deepinder Goyal, announced her resignation in a filing to the stock exchange. They stated, “Pursuant to Regulation 30 of SEBI Listing Regulations, we would like to inform that Ms. Akriti Chopra, Co-founder & Chief People Officer designated as Senior Management Personnel (SMP), has tendered her resignation w.e.f. September 27, 2024.”

Chopra, a Chartered Accountant, joined Zomato in November 2011 as a Senior Manager of Finance & Operations. Throughout her nearly 13-year career at the company, she advanced through various key roles, including VP of Finance & Operations and CFO. In October 2020, she took on the role of Head of People Development, focusing on the growth and well-being of Zomato’s workforce. By June 2021, she became Co-founder and CPO, playing a crucial role in shaping the company’s culture and enhancing employee relations.

Zomato shared that Chopra’s decision to resign stems from her desire to explore other interests outside of the company. In an email to CEO Deepinder Goyal, she expressed gratitude for her time at Zomato, stating, “It’s been an incredibly enriching journey over the past 13 years. Thank you for everything. I’m always a call away :)”
