ChatGPT Daily Users Reach Record High with AI Ghibli-Style Images

The number of people using ChatGPT daily has reached a new record, thanks to its latest feature that turns personal photos into AI Ghibli-style images. ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, saw a sharp increase in daily active users (DAU) last month, driven by the excitement surrounding its new AI image-generation tool.

High Increase in ChatGPT Users

According to industry tracker IGAWorks, ChatGPT’s daily active users climbed to 1.25 million as of last Thursday. This is a major jump from 1.03 million on March 10 and 790,000 on March 1. The impressive growth is largely due to OpenAI’s introduction of an AI-powered image filter that allows users to create illustrations inspired by the famous Japanese animation studio, Studio Ghibli.

Studio Ghibli, founded by legendary filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki, is well-known for its popular animated movies, including My Neighbor Totoro (1988), Spirited Away (2001), and Howl’s Moving Castle (2004). The new AI tool brings the unique artistic style of these films to personal photos, making them look like scenes from a Ghibli movie.

ChatGPT AI Ghibli-style Image Feature

The feature gained widespread attention after OpenAI CEO Sam Altman updated his profile picture on X (formerly Twitter) with a Ghibli-style version of himself. This move sparked curiosity among users worldwide, leading to a rapid increase in ChatGPT engagement. People started experimenting with the tool, eager to see their photos transformed into artistic AI-generated illustrations.

While many users are enjoying this creative AI feature, it has also sparked debates over copyright concerns and technological challenges. Some experts worry about the ethical implications of AI-generated artwork, as it closely resembles the signature style of Studio Ghibli.

OpenAI Plans Limits on AI Image Tool

As the popularity of the AI image tool continues to rise, OpenAI has announced plans to impose limits on its usage. CEO Sam Altman acknowledged the issue, stating, “Our graphic processing units are melting,” indicating that the demand for the tool is straining the company’s computing resources.

Despite these concerns, the success of the Ghibli-style image filter highlights the growing interest in AI-generated art. OpenAI is expected to introduce further improvements while addressing copyright and technology-related challenges. ChatGPT Ghibli-image feature transforms personal photos into anime-style illustrations, gaining global attention.
