In a shocking event in Bengaluru, often referred to as India’s Silicon Valley, a couple found a live cobra in a Amazon package they had ordered from Amazon. The couple, both software engineers, had ordered an Xbox controller. However, when they opened the package on Sunday, they were stunned to discover a spectacled cobra inside. Fortunately, the venomous snake was stuck to the packaging tape and couldn’t cause any harm.
Unbelievable Discovery
The couple, who reside on Sarjapur Road, recorded a video of the incident and shared it on X (formerly Twitter). They explained, “We ordered an Xbox controller two days ago from Amazon and received a live snake in the package. The package was directly handed over to us by the delivery partner (not left outside). We live on Sarjapur Road and captured the entire incident on camera, plus we have eyewitnesses to the same.”
They added, “Fortunately, the snake was stuck to the packaging tape and did not harm anyone in our household or apartment. Despite the danger, Amazon’s customer support put us on hold for over two hours, forcing us to handle the situation all by ourselves in the middle of the night (again proof captured in videos and photos).”
Seeking Accountability
Although the couple received a complete refund, they expressed concerns about the safety lapse. “What do we get for risking our lives here with a highly venomous snake? This is clearly a safety breach caused solely by Amazon’s negligence and their poor transportation/warehousing hygiene and supervision. Where is the accountability for such a serious lapse in safety?” they questioned.
Social Media Users Reaction
The video quickly went viral, drawing widespread attention. One user commented, “So Amazon is now also delivering cobras, which is why Amazon is the leader in online shopping.” Another joked, “Direct from the Amazon rainforests.” However, some users expressed skepticism, with one noting, “Probability of unpack by middle man and repack. Not captured video from start when packet is opened.”
Amazon’s Response
In response to the video, Amazon stated, “We’re sorry to learn about the inconvenience you’ve experienced with your Amazon order. We’d like to have this checked. Please share the required details here, and our team will get back to you soon with an update.” According to reports, the customer received a full refund, and the snake was safely released away from public areas.
This incident has raised serious concerns about Amazon’s packaging and delivery processes, highlighting the need for improved safety measures.
