Over 163 entries were submitted, and the shortlisted startups will work on solutions in areas like smart living technologies, personal health, sustainable living, energy efficiency, connected devices, and personalized experiences.

Supporting Innovation in India

The “Panasonic Ignition” challenge aims to mentor and support early to mid-stage startups. It focuses on developing innovative technologies that enhance the quality of life in India. Through guidance, mentorship, and funding, Panasonic hopes to empower these startups to create impactful solutions. The program emphasizes smart living, wellness, and sustainability to address evolving consumer needs.

Selection and Program Details

The program received over 163 applications since its launch in October. Under the leadership of Kunio Gohara, Chief Transformation Officer at Panasonic Corporation, a rigorous evaluation process narrowed the entries to 12 promising startups. These startups will now participate in a three-month cohort program where they will receive mentorship from Panasonic, Beyond Next Ventures, Dentsu, and Zinnov.

During the program, startups will benefit from expert guidance, masterclasses, and support in product strategy and growth. They will also have access to potential investment opportunities and resources to develop their ideas further. Panasonic will provide regular challenges and reviews to track progress. The winner(s) of the program will be announced in March 2025.

Technology and Sustainability

Manish Misra, Chief Innovation Officer at Panasonic Life Solutions India, expressed excitement about the program’s second edition. He stated, “We are thrilled with the response received for the Panasonic Ignition program. This initiative underscores our commitment to fostering groundbreaking technologies that meet the evolving needs of consumers while contributing to a sustainable future.”

Tsuyoshi Ito, CEO and Managing Partner at Beyond Next Ventures, highlighted the importance of corporate partnerships in scaling innovative ideas globally. “Over the last two months, we engaged in rigorous sourcing and screening activities to identify startups with cutting-edge approaches. This cohort includes innovators addressing challenges in wellness, sustainability, and other critical areas. We are excited to help these startups reach their full potential through our partnership with Panasonic,” he said.

The “Panasonic Ignition” program reflects Panasonic’s vision of driving innovation and creating a better future for consumers in India. By supporting startups with the tools and resources they need, Panasonic aims to encourage groundbreaking solutions that address real-world challenges.
