Bengaluru-based wedding services startup, Meragi, has successfully raised $9.1 million in a Series A funding round. The round was led by Accel, with participation from existing investors Peak XV Partners (formerly Sequoia Capital India & SEA), Venture Highway, and angel investor Anupam Mittal, a judge on Shark Tank India. This funding follows Meragi’s previous raise of $4.4 million last year, which was led by Peak XV Partners’ Surge scale-up program.

Focused on Expansion

Meragi plans to use the new capital to expand its operations into more cities, establish partner venues and experience centers, and introduce new technology products for customers. The startup is also looking to venture into newer categories like venues and catering. Meragi aims to strengthen its presence in the wedding services market by offering comprehensive solutions that cater to modern wedding needs.

What Does Meragi Do?

Founded in 2021 by Mukund Mohan Raj, Abhinav Chandran, and Lakshminarayan B, Meragi provides a wide range of wedding-related services. These include decoration, photography, videography, makeup, hairstyling, mehendi, catering, venue arrangements, entertainment, and invitations. The platform allows users to discover, design, and purchase these services and products for various lifestyle events. Additionally, Meragi offers destination wedding packages in popular locations such as Goa, Coorg, Chikkamagaluru, Mysuru, and Bengaluru.

Meragi’s Market Presence

Meragi currently has a presence in key Indian markets, including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and the National Capital Region (NCR). The startup plans to expand its operations to Gurugram and Jaipur within this year. Since its inception, Meragi has successfully delivered over 3,000 events in just two years. This rapid growth underscores the startup’s ability to meet the diverse needs of couples and families planning weddings.

Co-Founder and CEO’s Statement

“Having successfully delivered over 3,000 events in just two years, we’re eager to grow Meragi into a household name. Alongside our previous investors, Peak XV Partners and Venture Highway, we are thrilled to welcome Accel to our journey. With their expertise and support, we are confident in bringing the Meragi experience to thousands of more couples and families in India,” said Abhinav Chandran, co-founder and CEO of Meragi.

Future Plans

With the new funding, Meragi is set to scale its operations significantly. The startup aims to make its comprehensive wedding services accessible to more couples and families across India. By leveraging technology and expanding its service offerings, Meragi is poised to become a leading name in the wedding services market. The company’s focus on customer experience and innovation will likely drive its growth and success in the coming years.

Meragi’s recent funding round, led by Accel, marks a significant milestone in its journey. The startup’s ambitious expansion plans and commitment to enhancing the wedding planning experience highlight its potential to become a major player in the wedding services industry. As Meragi continues to grow and innovate, it is well-positioned to meet the evolving needs of modern weddings and lifestyle events.
