Ugaoo, a leading urban gardening company in India, has successfully raised Rs 47 crores in its Series A funding round. This funding was led by V3 Ventures, with participation from existing investors DSG Consumer Partners and RPG Ventures. Ugaoo, known for its wide range of houseplants and gardening products, plans to use this funding to expand its operations and strengthen its position in the growing home and garden market.

Funding for Urban Gardening

Ugaoo has been a key player in transforming the Indian home and garden market. The market is currently valued at US$11 billion, with Ugaoo playing an essential role in shifting it from unorganised to organised. The company offers over 1,500 products, including live plants, vegetable seeds, flowers, gardening tools, and pots. With a market growth rate of 30% per year, the home and garden market is expected to reach US$18 billion by 2028. Ugaoo is looking to expand production and aims to produce 5 lakh plants per month. The company also plans to scale up its production capacity to 100 acres in the next two years.

Ugaoo Plans for Expansion

Ugaoo has already completed over 1 million orders in the past three years and has an annual recurring revenue (ARR) of over Rs 100 crores. The company is now focusing on expanding its presence in the top 10 cities in India and aims to open 80 retail stores by 2030. Ugaoo also plans to broaden its product offerings by collaborating with international plant suppliers, offering exotic plants and premium plant care products to the Indian market.

Ugaoo urban gardening funding

One of Ugaoo’s biggest strengths is its integrated supply chain. The company operates a 25-acre farm in Talegaon, near Pune, where it grows all of its plants in-house. With the help of modern greenhouses and horticulture specialists, Ugaoo ensures high-quality plants with consistent growth and structure. This backward integration guarantees rigorous quality control at every step, from cultivation to packaging and dispatch.

Founders Share Their Vision

Sidhanth Bhalinge, the Founder of Ugaoo, shared his excitement about the funding, stating that Ugaoo’s mission is to inspire people to connect with nature and experience growth through plants. He believes that the growth of the Indian home and garden market presents significant opportunities for Ugaoo, and the funds will help enhance products, expand regional fulfilment centres, and grow the team. Ugaoo plans to expand into cities such as Kolkata, Kochi, Lucknow, Chennai, Guwahati, and Ahmedabad.

Investors Share Their Confidence

Arjun Vaidya, Partner at V3 Ventures, expressed confidence in Ugaoo’s future, citing the company’s strong brand presence and deeply integrated supply chain as key factors for its growth. Hariharan Premkumar from DSG Consumer Partners also highlighted Ugaoo’s mission-driven approach and innovative products. Kunjan Chikhlikar from RPG Ventures pointed out the rising trend of plant parenting among young adults, which further supports Ugaoo’s potential for growth in the home gardening sector.

Ugaoo’s successful Series A funding round will help the company strengthen its position in the fast-growing home and garden market. With plans to expand production, increase its retail presence, and introduce new products, Ugaoo is well on its way to becoming a leader in India’s urban gardening space.
