Kaatil, a rising Indian hot condiments brand specializing in chilli-based products, has secured seed funding led by Prajay Advisors, a Mumbai-based firm. The round also saw contributions from Shivaan Ghai and Romil Ratra of the Graviss Group, marking a significant milestone for the young brand, which is part of Smerc Food & Beverages.
Kaatil Range of Products
Founded in 2021 by Sagar Merchant and Arjun Panwar, Kaatil offers an array of chilli-based condiments such as hot sauces, hot ketchup, and chilli oils, all crafted using Indian chilies. The brand’s products have already made a mark, winning the prestigious Great Taste Award 2024 from the Guild of Fine Foods in the United Kingdom.
Kaatil products are available through various sales channels, including their own website, offline retail stores, and major online platforms like Amazon, Big Basket, and Nature’s Basket. Recently, the brand has also started selling in Amazon USA and physical stores in Canada and New Zealand, signaling its global growth ambitions.
Plans for Growth and Expansion
With the new funding, Kaatil is poised for aggressive expansion. The brand plans to widen its product offerings and strengthen its distribution across national and international markets. This includes increasing their presence on e-commerce platforms, exploring rapid commerce opportunities, and expanding in offline retail stores.
In addition to growing their consumer-focused business, Kaatil also aims to establish a dedicated B2B supply arm. This new venture will cater to restaurants, hotels, and cafés, providing them with high-quality chilli-based products.
