Bengaluru-based agri-biotech startup GreenGrahi has raised Rs 32 crore, around USD 3.73 million, in a funding round led by Avaana Capital. The round also attracted investments from Huddle, Campus Fund, Blume Founders Fund, and well-known angel investors, including Nitin Sharma of Nexus Venture Partners and Sameer Brij Verma of Northpoint Capital.
GreenGrahi plans to use the new funds to grow its insect biomanufacturing platform and expand its team of scientists. A major part of the money will go toward building the country’s largest Black Soldier Fly (BSF) bio-factory. This facility will be able to process 150 tons of feedstock every day. Along with strengthening operations in India, the company also has plans to expand its business to international markets.
GreenGrahi Prepares for Global Expansion
With an increasing demand for its products, which is already worth Rs 510 crore annually, GreenGrahi aims to enter major global markets like the United States, United Kingdom, and countries in the European Union. These markets are expected to bring in up to 35% of the company’s total revenue shortly, strengthening its international presence and customer base.
Founded in 2021 by Shivali Sugand and Siddharth Sharma, GreenGrahi uses Black Soldier Fly larvae and microbiome science to make high-quality, insect-based proteins, oils, and hydrolysates. These ingredients are used in aquaculture, poultry feed, and pet food. Compared to traditional inputs like fishmeal and soy, insect-based feed offers better digestion, higher nutritional value, and more price stability.
Company Develops Biological Products
In addition to animal feed, GreenGrahi is also building a line of biological products for agriculture, including biofertilisers, biostimulants, and biopesticides. These products improve soil health and can increase crop yields by 25% to 30%, all while reducing the need for harmful chemical inputs. The startup already serves over 10 B2B clients with these eco-friendly farming solutions.
GreenGrahi is transforming leftover agricultural materials into useful animal feed and farm inputs through a circular and sustainable process. This climate-friendly business model supports environmental health and reduces waste. With its science-driven approach and global ambitions, GreenGrahi is reshaping how food and agriculture systems can work in harmony with nature.
