AppsForBharat, the Bengaluru-based parent company of Sri Mandir, has raised Rs 175 crore (around USD 20 million) in a Series C funding round. The investment was led by Susquehanna Asia Venture Capital, with participation from existing investors Fundamentum (co-founded by Nandan Nilekani), Elevation Capital, and Peak XV Partners.
The funds will be used to scale Sri Mandir’s presence in over 20 temple towns such as Ayodhya, Varanasi, Haridwar, and Ujjain. The company also aims to build fulfillment hubs and logistics systems for prasad and ritual deliveries, while improving user experience with advanced AI features.
What is AppsForBharat
Founded in November 2020 by IIT Bombay alumnus Prashant Sachan, AppsForBharat has quickly become a leading name in the growing faith-tech sector. Its flagship app, Sri Mandir, enables online pujas, chadhava (offerings), prasad delivery, and devotional content from home.
Sri Mandir has already facilitated 52 lakh online pujas and offerings in the past year across more than 70 Indian temples. With 4 crore downloads, the app is now used by both domestic and international devotees.
Serving Global Devotees
About 20% of Sri Mandir’s users are from outside India, including countries like the USA, UK, UAE, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The platform enables them to stay connected to spiritual traditions by performing religious rituals digitally.
During major religious events like Mahakumbh Mela 2025, Sri Mandir partnered with Vedashram Trust to provide hybrid devotional experiences for over 3 lakh devotees, combining in-person and digital rituals.
Income Boost for Temples
The platform’s reach has helped small temples in regions like Tirunelveli and Uttarakhand earn up to 30% more revenue by digitising puja bookings. This digital shift also supports priests and local vendors with year-round income, bringing stability to many temple town communities.
Founder and CEO Prashant Sachan noted the platform’s 2X growth in just six months, reflecting rising demand for spiritual technology in India. He emphasized that technology is enabling seamless access to devotion, while building sustainable ecosystems for temples.
Tech Meets Tradition
AppsForBharat aims to use the new funds to strengthen its AI-driven features, making the platform more personal and intuitive. From personalized puja suggestions to smart scheduling, the next phase of growth blends technology with tradition.
With this round, the company’s total funding crosses USD 50 million, cementing Sri Mandir’s position as a transformative player in India’s digital and spiritual journey.
