Seoul: Hyundai AutoEver, the technology arm of Hyundai Motor Group, has partnered with India’s MapmyIndia to establish a new joint venture named Terra Link Technologies for navigation maps. Based in Indonesia, the company will focus on creating high-quality navigation maps for several Southeast Asian countries, including Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore.
The collaboration aims to meet the rising demand for in-vehicle navigation systems, fueled by rapid economic growth and increasing vehicle ownership in Southeast Asia. Hyundai AutoEver highlighted the diverse road environments across the region, such as differences in driving directions and road markings, which require tailored mapping solutions.
Seo Dong-kwon, head of Hyundai AutoEver’s navigation business division, emphasized the importance of this initiative, saying, “We aim to build high-quality automotive maps to deliver a unique experience to consumers and support global automakers in enhancing their navigation capabilities.”
