Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in a session organized by FICCI, called upon Indian businesses to embrace the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’, aligning with India’s centennial celebration of independence. She emphasized the significance of this goal, set to mark India’s progress and prosperity by its 100th year of independence.

During the session on ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047: Viksit Bharat & industry’, Sitharaman reassured the industry of continued reforms under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government. With general elections scheduled for April-May, the BJP anticipates Modi’s return to power, promising further reforms to propel India’s development trajectory.

Viksit Bharat 2047

Highlighting India’s economic ascent, Sitharaman noted its rise to the fifth largest economy globally, with ambitions to claim the third spot. She underscored the pivotal role of reforms in this journey, reflecting on the transformative changes initiated over the past decade and assuring a seamless continuation in the coming years.

The minister affirmed that upcoming reforms under the next Modi government will focus on optimizing factors of production, driving sustained growth and progress.

India’s aspiration to attain developed status by 2047, marking the centenary of its independence, is both ambitious and feasible. While significant progress has been made in various sectors, several challenges must be addressed to realize this vision.

Economic growth has been impressive, with India emerging as one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies. However, sustainable development requires addressing income inequality, unemployment, and poverty. Efforts to boost manufacturing, invest in infrastructure, and promote entrepreneurship are crucial for inclusive growth.
