UltraTech Cement Expands Electric Truck Fleet to 100 Vehicles

Share post:

UltraTech Cement has announced plans to expand its fleet of electric trucks to a total of 100 vehicles. This decision follows a successful trial that began with just five electric trucks in January this year. The new trucks will be used to transport materials and products as part of the company’s logistics operations.

UltraTech has signed a new transport service contract to help move 75,000 MT (Million Tonne) of clinker each month. The material will be transported from its main cement production unit in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, to its grinding unit in Dhule, Maharashtra. This significant expansion supports UltraTech’s focus on adopting green logistics solutions.

Plans for the Future

By June 2025, UltraTech plans to increase the number of electric trucks in its fleet to 500. This expansion aligns with the Indian government’s eFAST initiative, which promotes electric vehicles and sustainable practices across industries.

K C Jhanwar, Managing Director of UltraTech Cement Ltd., stated, “Expanding our use of EV trucks shows our strong commitment to sustainable practices in the industry.” The company has been proactive in adopting environmentally friendly solutions over the past few years.

Driving Sustainability

UltraTech Cement has taken several steps toward eco-friendly transport. It was one of the first cement companies in India to implement CNG vehicles in 2021, followed by LNG vehicles in 2022, and now electric trucks in 2024. Currently, UltraTech operates more than 468 CNG trucks and 67 LNG trucks for transporting materials across its various units.

UltraTech Cement’s expansion of its electric truck fleet demonstrates its dedication to sustainability and leading by example in the cement industry. With the goal of having 500 electric trucks by 2025, UltraTech is set to further reduce its carbon footprint and contribute to more sustainable logistics in India.
