Swiggy Instamart Appoints Kanika Tiwari as Head of Monetization

Share post:

Swiggy Instamart, the quick-commerce branch of the food delivery platform Swiggy, has appointed Kanika Tiwari as its new Head of Monetization. Tiwari’s role will focus on strengthening and expanding the company’s monetization strategies in the growing quick-commerce market.

Kanika Tiwari’s Background

Before joining Swiggy, Kanika Tiwari spent eight years at Flipkart, one of India’s largest e-commerce platforms. During her time there, she held significant positions such as Director of Strategy and Growth for Flipkart Ads and Associate Director of Growth and Partnerships. Tiwari also has prior experience working with Rivigo and Ericsson, making her well-equipped for her new role at Swiggy.

Tiwari shared her excitement for the new role on LinkedIn, thanking Flipkart for the learning experiences and leadership that helped shape her career. She said, “I’m excited to join Swiggy Instamart as Head of Monetization. Thank you to Flipkart for all the experiences I’ve gained. I look forward to contributing to Swiggy’s success in this new chapter.”

Swiggy’s Leadership Team

Tiwari’s appointment is part of Swiggy’s broader strategy to strengthen its leadership team as the competition in the quick-commerce sector intensifies. Recently, Swiggy also hired Supriya Shankar as Vice President of Events and Experience, who brings 14 years of experience in internet commerce. Shankar previously worked as CEO of Lenskart Singapore and held senior roles at companies like Airtel, Zomato, and OYO.

Swiggy also appointed Shalabh Shrivastava as Senior Vice President of the Driver Organization and Hari Kumar G as Senior Vice President and Chief Business Officer for Instamart.

Competition in Quick-Commerce

Tiwari’s appointment comes as competition in India’s quick-commerce sector grows rapidly. Last week, Zepto, a fast-growing competitor led by Aadit Palicha, raised $350 million in funding to support its expansion. Additionally, reports indicate that Amazon India plans to launch its own quick-commerce delivery service, named “Tez”, by the end of 2024 or early 2025.

In this competitive environment, Swiggy aims to strengthen its position in the market by bolstering its leadership with experienced professionals like Tiwari and others, making it well-positioned to take on rivals in the sector.
