GreenLine and Flipkart Join Hands for Greener Logistics

Share post:

GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd, a part of Essar’s Green Mobility initiative, has announced its partnership with Flipkart, India’s leading e-commerce platform, to promote sustainability in logistics. This collaboration aims to reduce carbon emissions by using GreenLine’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks in Flipkart’s delivery operations.

Deployment of LNG Trucks

In the initial phase, GreenLine will deploy 25 LNG-powered trucks, each equipped with a 46 ft container and a capacity of 110 cubic meters (CBM). These trucks will carry a variety of goods for both B2B (business-to-business) and B2C (business-to-consumer) operations across key routes in India.

The first set of trucks will operate on routes from western India to the northern region. Future plans include expanding these operations to connect northern, southern, and western parts of the country.

Supporting Green Initiatives

This collaboration is part of the larger sustainability goals of both GreenLine and Flipkart. GreenLine’s LNG fleet will complement Flipkart’s existing initiatives, such as the deployment of electric vehicle (EV) trucks. Flipkart recently achieved a milestone of adding 10,000 EVs to its delivery fleet, showcasing its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Leadership Comments

Anand Mimani, CEO of GreenLine Mobility Solutions, emphasized the importance of sustainable logistics, saying, “E-commerce is growing rapidly in India, and so is its environmental impact. Through this partnership, we are helping Flipkart make logistics greener and contributing to a cleaner future.”

Hemant Badri, Senior Vice President at Flipkart, added, “Sustainability is at the core of our operations. Partnering with GreenLine to include LNG-powered trucks in our fleet is a significant step towards achieving our environmental goals.”

GreenLine’s Impact

GreenLine has been a leader in sustainable transport, serving industries like cement, steel, FMCG, and more. Over the past two years, the company’s LNG initiatives have reduced CO2 emissions by 30 per cent compared to diesel trucks, cutting down nearly 7,398 tonnes of carbon emissions.

This partnership highlights the joint effort of GreenLine and Flipkart to create a more eco-friendly logistics system, setting a benchmark for green innovation in India’s e-commerce sector.
