DeHaat, a leading agritech platform in India, has acquired AgriCentral, a farm advisory platform owned by Olam Agri, in an all-cash deal through a Business Transfer Agreement (BTA). This acquisition aims to enhance DeHaat’s digital farmer services and extend its reach to over 10 million smallholder farmers currently served by AgriCentral. With this move, DeHaat strengthens its position as India’s largest full-stack agritech platform.

DeHaat has built a strong supply chain to provide comprehensive agricultural solutions to farmers across 120,000+ villages. With a network of over 15,000 DeHaat Centres, the platform connects farmers with essential services, including crop advisory, input supplies, and market linkages. Additionally, DeHaat has partnered with more than 1,000 agribusiness institutions, such as input manufacturers, produce buyers, warehouse operators, and financial service providers.

Shashank Kumar, Co-founder and CEO of DeHaat, highlighted the company’s achievements, saying, “We have successfully developed robust supply chain capabilities to deliver 360-degree solutions to Indian farmers. This acquisition will help us further expand our digital services and farmer outreach.”

About AgriCentral and Contributions

AgriCentral, founded in 2018, is a mobile app-based platform backed by Olam Agri. It serves over 10 million farmers in India, providing features like real-time crop price updates, personalized crop planning, crop health diagnostics, and community interaction tools.

Ramanarayanan Mahadevan, CEO of Jiva AG PTE, expressed his confidence in the acquisition, stating, “AgriCentral has always aimed to use technology to improve the lives of Indian farmers. Joining DeHaat will enable the platform to scale its impact and provide farmers with better access to agricultural value chain services.”

Digital Capabilities for Farmers

The integration of AgriCentral into DeHaat will strengthen DeHaat’s digital capabilities. It will enable the platform to offer more holistic solutions, including crop advisory, input supply, and market access. With this acquisition, DeHaat’s farmer base will grow to over 12 million, surpassing its previous goal of quadrupling its farmer network by 2024.

This acquisition marks a significant step in the evolution of India’s agritech industry. By combining DeHaat’s extensive network and AgriCentral’s digital tools, the partnership aims to provide comprehensive support to farmers, improving their productivity and income.

With this acquisition, DeHaat is set to redefine the agricultural landscape in India. The expanded platform will empower millions of farmers with advanced technology, better market access, and reliable support, ensuring sustainable growth for the farming community.
