Delhi Airport has issued a fresh passenger advisory stating that IndiGo flights may continue to experience delays, urging travellers to verify their flight status before leaving for the airport. The advisory, shared on social platform X, noted that passengers should stay updated through their airline to avoid inconvenience. Airport authorities said operational teams are coordinating closely with relevant stakeholders to reduce disruptions.
The airport added that its on-ground staff is available to assist passengers in need of help, including medical support. Information desks across terminals have been directed to prioritise affected travellers. Authorities reiterated that efforts are underway to restore normal movement as efficiently as possible. The advisory also highlighted the availability of public transport options, including metro services, buses and cabs, to ensure smooth connectivity to and from the airport.
Passengers were encouraged to track real-time updates through the airport’s official website. Delhi Airport said it will continue sharing alerts and essential information as the situation evolves. The continuing delays come even as airlines and authorities work to stabilise flight schedules following recent disruptions that have affected several routes.
Airport Issues Advisory
Meanwhile, IndiGo has processed refunds amounting to Rs 610 crore after the Ministry of Civil Aviation issued strict directives to complete all pending refunds for cancelled or heavily delayed flights by 8 p.m. on Sunday. The government also clarified that no additional rescheduling fees are allowed for passengers whose travel plans were affected. Dedicated support cells have been formed to resolve refund and rebooking concerns promptly.
A statement from the ministry noted that IndiGo’s operational performance has shown improvement in recent days, with schedules gradually returning to normal levels. The government also intervened to address temporary spikes in airfares caused by sudden cancellations and shifts in demand. A fare cap was introduced with immediate effect to ensure affordability and prevent sharp price fluctuations across affected routes.
Authorities confirmed that airfares have since moderated to acceptable levels, with airlines instructed to follow the revised fare framework strictly. In addition, IndiGo was directed to trace and deliver misplaced baggage within 48 hours. The ministry said continuous communication with passengers is mandatory throughout the process. According to official updates, the airline has delivered around 3,000 pieces of baggage to passengers across India as of Saturday.
Government Steps In
As the airline works to resolve ongoing challenges, questions remain regarding the scale and impact of the recent disruptions. Industry watchers say the episode highlights the increasing pressure on airlines amid high passenger volumes and operational constraints. While IndiGo is restoring normalcy, airport authorities continue to monitor the situation and issue public advisories when required.
The travel experience at Delhi Airport remains stable for most passengers, but those scheduled to fly with IndiGo have been advised to plan additional time and stay alert for updates. With support interventions from the government and airport operators, flight operations are expected to stabilise further in the coming days.

IndiGo Crisis Reason
Sector analysts note that IndiGo’s recent disruptions stem from a combination of operational bottlenecks, heightened travel demand and cascading delays from previous cancellations. The airline has been operating at full capacity to manage peak-season loads, making schedule recovery more complex once widespread delays begin.
Industry experts say the situation underscores the importance of robust contingency planning for India’s rapidly growing aviation market, where even minor disruptions can escalate quickly due to tight turnaround times and high aircraft utilisation.
