The multilingual rollout is built on a custom version of the Gemini 2.5 AI model. According to Google, the model has been optimized to generate answers that are not only factually correct but also culturally relevant and contextually useful for each language community.
By fine-tuning responses for local nuances, Google aims to make AI Mode more than just a translation tool. Instead, it seeks to provide intuitive, human-friendly answers that resonate with users across different regions.

This expansion comes just two weeks after AI Mode was launched in more than 180 countries, showing the speed at which Google is scaling its AI tools globally. Robby Stein, Vice President of Product at Google Search, announced the update on X, noting that the rollout was driven by growing global adoption of AI Mode.
Google’s aggressive push into AI reflects its ambition to blend search with intelligent assistance, ensuring that users not only find information but also complete real-world tasks more easily.
AI Handles Complex Queries
In addition to language expansion, Google is also enhancing agentic capabilities in AI Mode. These features, currently available in the US for Google AI Ultra subscribers, allow the AI to manage multi-step tasks.
For example, users can request dinner reservations with details like date, time, meal preferences, and party size. Google AI Mode then searches across platforms like OpenTable, Resy, and Tock to deliver real-time booking options. This is powered by Project Mariner and Google’s Knowledge Graph, combined with integrations from Maps and partner platforms.
Bridging Search with Actions
The introduction of agentic AI capabilities means that Google Search is no longer limited to answering questions. Instead, it becomes a proactive digital assistant, capable of reasoning, planning, and executing tasks.
