Google has shared a set of new powerful AI tools to help developers in India. These efforts show Google’s strong focus on making India a global leader in AI. The company launched its advanced Gemini 2.5 Flash AI model just for Indian developers. This helps build faster, stable AI tools in areas like healthcare, finance, and public services.
Dr Manish Gupta from Google DeepMind said Indian developers are driving real change. He added, “We want to bring them our best AI tools so they can create apps that help millions in India and worldwide.”
Google AI Tools
In 2024, Google’s Android and Google Play ecosystem added about INR 4 lakh crore to India’s economy. It also created around 35 lakh jobs through direct and indirect work. Preeti Lobana, Country Manager at Google India, explained, “There is excitement around India’s digital growth, and developers here are shaping how AI will be used globally.”
Google is also working with three startups Sarvam, Soket AI, and Gnani to build local AI models using its Gemma open models. Sarvam-Translate, a tool built for translating long texts, is one of their first results.
Builds Local Tools
Google is helping BharatGen at IIT Bombay to make speech recognition and text-to-speech tools in local Indian languages. This will help make AI more inclusive for India’s many language communities.
For developers building apps and websites, Google added new AI features in Google Maps and offered special India pricing for its Maps Places UI Kit. These tools help developers add location-based services more easily.
Trains and Inspires
To help new developers, Google announced new tools in Firebase Studio, making it easier to build and launch AI apps. The company also launched a training program with Unity for 500 Indian game developers. This program is running first in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
Google is also hosting the Gen AI Exchange Hackathon to push developers to create real-world AI solutions. At the event, eight startups including Sarvam, Nykaa, and InVideo shared how Google’s AI tools helped them build impactful products.
Startups in India
India’s tech scene is growing fast, especially in AI, gaming, and mobile apps. Many local startups are now working on AI-driven products, speech tools, and even games built with global standards. Google’s new plans show strong support to keep this momentum and help Indian developers compete worldwide. In the end, these steps highlight Google’s aim to help India’s developers lead in AI by giving them advanced tools, training, and local support.
