Japanese carmaker Nissan has announced that it will launch two new vehicles in the Indian market as part of its product expansion strategy. The company will introduce a brand-new seven-seater multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) in the last quarter of the financial year 2025-26. Additionally, Nissan will roll out a five-seater compact SUV by the end of the first quarter of the 2026-27 financial year. These launches are expected to strengthen the company’s position in India’s growing utility vehicle market.
Nissan Announces New SUV Models in India
Nissan Motor India Managing Director Saurabh Vatsa confirmed that the brand is now sharply focused on launching SUVs. These new models will showcase Japanese engineering quality and the latest Nissan technologies. The seven-seater MPV, referred to as the B-MPV, is scheduled for launch by the end of FY26, while the five-seater compact SUV, termed as the C-SUV, will make its way to showrooms during April–June of FY27. This move aligns with Nissan’s goal to reshape its India product lineup and cater to rising customer demand for spacious and reliable vehicles.
Nissan Committed to Strengthen Portfolio
Earlier, Nissan had revealed plans to launch three new vehicles, including the seven-seater MPV and two compact SUVs—one five-seater and one seven-seater. The updated versions of the popular Magnite and the premium X-TRAIL are also part of this refreshed lineup. The company’s focus is to bring in more segment-leading SUVs that can compete with strong rivals in the Indian auto market.
About Nissan and Indian Auto Market
Nissan entered the Indian automobile market in 2005 and began operations under Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Nissan Motor Co. Ltd., Japan. Over the years, the company introduced models like the Micra, Sunny, Terrano, and the widely popular Magnite. Nissan has built a strong presence in India with a manufacturing plant in Chennai and a growing network of dealerships and service centres across the country.
India is one of the most important automotive markets for global carmakers, and Nissan sees long-term potential here. The company’s decision to focus solely on SUVs comes as Indian buyers show increased preference for larger vehicles with higher road presence. With two new launches lined up in under two years, Nissan aims to re-establish itself in a competitive yet opportunity-filled Indian auto industry.
Nissan Plans Big with New SUV Launches in India
Nissan’s upcoming launches are expected to attract both family and urban buyers looking for performance, space, and style. With modern features, safety technologies, and a strong SUV-focused strategy, Nissan is preparing to compete with key players in the mid-size SUV and MPV segments in India.
