After IPO, Lenskart Plans to Launch New AI Smart Glasses

Share post:

Eyewear and optical retail major Lenskart is preparing to launch its first pair of AI-powered smart glasses by the end of December 2025, according to people aware of the company’s plans. The innovation marks a strategic move by the company to strengthen its positioning as a technology-driven lifestyle and vision-tech brand.

Internally codenamed “B by Lenskart Smartglasses,” the upcoming product is expected to merge wearable technology with everyday functionality. It will likely feature AI-based voice and visual interactions, health and fitness insights, and even support for UPI-based contactless payments. Sources said the product is part of a broader vision to make eyewear more interactive and commerce-integrated.

“The device aims to bring AI and commerce into the eyewear experience, where glasses go beyond vision to include interaction, convenience, and health awareness,” one person familiar with the development told this publication.

Built on Qualcomm Collaboration

The new smart glasses are expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 platform — a chipset designed specifically for camera-enabled, AI-based augmented reality applications in lightweight wearable devices. This configuration suggests a focus on powerful performance with longer battery life, suited for day-to-day use.

According to sources, the upcoming device is being developed in alignment with the strategic partnership between Lenskart and Qualcomm announced during the Snapdragon for India XR Day event in July 2025. Both companies had unveiled their intention to jointly design immersive XR (extended reality) and AI-driven eyewear technology built around the needs of Indian consumers.

Queries sent to Lenskart by PTI regarding the product’s specifications and pricing remained unanswered. Industry experts believe this development could position Lenskart as one of the early Indian entrants into the AI-enabled consumer wearables space, directly competing with global offerings from companies such as Meta and Amazon.

Lenskart AI-Powered Smart Glasses Launch

The release of the smart glasses is anticipated to follow closely after Lenskart’s public market debut. The company launched its initial public offering (IPO) on October 31, aiming to raise Rs 7,278 crore at an estimated valuation of around Rs 70,000 crore (about USD 8 billion). The issue, which closed on November 4, saw full subscription on its opening day, reflecting continued investor optimism in India’s growing consumer tech and retail sectors.

Officials familiar with the matter indicated that the commercial unveiling of the smart glasses is tentatively planned for late December, just weeks after the company’s market listing scheduled for November 10. The final pricing of the product has not yet been disclosed, though insiders suggest that the brand intends to balance affordability with advanced technology to appeal to the Indian market.

Positioning as Vision-Tech Innovator

Lenskart’s foray into AI-led eyewear aligns with its ongoing investments in artificial intelligence, extended reality (XR), and computer vision startups over the past year. The company has been steadily expanding its internal R&D capabilities to move beyond conventional spectacle retail toward a fully integrated vision-technology ecosystem.

Analysts note that this move forms part of a global trend where eyewear brands are leveraging advanced sensors, connectivity, and software to transform optical products into smart, data-driven lifestyle accessories. If the December launch proceeds as planned, Lenskart could emerge as one of the first India-origin consumer brands to commercialize AI-integrated eyewear.

The new device is expected to combine design language tailored for Indian users with features like real-time assistance, visual overlays, and seamless connectivity with smartphones. If executed effectively, it could open a new product category for Lenskart, placing it among early innovators alongside Meta’s Ray-Ban Smart Glasses and Amazon Echo Frames.

Market experts believe that the success of “B by Lenskart Smartglasses” could further cement the company’s evolution from a direct-to-consumer optics retailer into a global leader in smart eyewear technology, bridging the gap between fashion, function, and futuristic innovation.
