Blinkit Launches EMI Payment for Orders Above Rs 2,999

Share post:

Blinkit, a popular quick commerce platform, has launched a new Equated Monthly Installment (EMI) option for its customers. This payment feature is available for purchases over Rs 2,999, giving customers the flexibility to spread payments over time.

The announcement was made by Blinkit’s CEO Albinder Dhindsa on X (formerly known as Twitter). Dhindsa explained that this EMI option will help customers manage their expenses better, improving affordability and financial planning. However, the EMI option does not apply to purchases of gold and silver coins.

EMI Partnership with Leading Banks

To offer new EMI payment feature, Blinkit has partnered with major banks such as HDFC, SBI, ICICI, Axis, Kotak Mahindra, RBL, and CITI Bank. Customers can use their credit cards from these banks to avail of the EMI option.

This new service comes as Blinkit looks to offer greater financial flexibility to its users, particularly as the quick commerce sector becomes increasingly competitive. By enabling EMI on higher-value orders, Blinkit hopes to attract more customers looking for flexible payment solutions.

Boosting Customer Value and Growth

The addition of the EMI feature is expected to boost Blinkit’s average order value by encouraging customers to make larger purchases. As many users rely on quick commerce platforms for everyday needs like groceries and household items, the ability to pay through EMI could drive more high-value orders.

The quick commerce industry is rapidly evolving, with players like Swiggy Instamart and Zepto also competing for market share. By offering this payment flexibility, Blinkit aims to stand out in this competitive market.

Expanding Products and Services

In addition to the EMI feature, Blinkit has been expanding its product range and services. The company recently launched the Sellers Hub, a platform that allows brands to list their products on Blinkit and manage their sales directly.

According to Blinkit’s Chief Technology Officer Sajal Gupta, more than 200 brands have already joined this initiative. Gupta emphasized that the goal of the Seller Hub is to give brands more control over their presence on the platform, without the need for intermediaries. Moreover, Blinkit has introduced a 10-minute returns and exchanges service for clothing and footwear in major cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Pune. This service aims to solve common size and fit issues for online shoppers, further enhancing the customer experience.
