Share post:

Roshni Nadar Malhotra, the chairperson of HCL Technologies, has made history by becoming the first Indian woman to be listed among the top 10 richest women in the world. According to the Hurun Global Rich List 2025, Roshni is now ranked fifth, with a net worth of around Rs 3.5 lakh crore. This significant achievement follows a major stake transfer from her father, Shiv Nadar, the founder of HCL Technologies.

Roshni Nadar Makes History

Shiv Nadar, one of India’s most successful business leaders, transferred nearly 47% of his stake in HCL Corporation and Vama Sundari Investments to Roshni as part of a planned succession strategy. This transfer gives her control over a 44.17% voting stake in Vama Delhi and a 0.17% voting stake in HCL Technologies.

Roshni has held the position of chairperson of HCL Technologies since July 2020. She also plays a key role in managing the Shiv Nadar Foundation, which has set up several top educational institutions in India.

First Indian Richest Woman

Roshni Nadar joins a powerful group of billionaire women in the top 10, including Francoise Bettencourt Meyers of L’Oréal, Alice Walton of Walmart, and MacKenzie Scott, ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

This year’s Hurun Global Rich List includes 3,442 billionaires, a 5% increase compared to the previous year. It also shows a 13% rise in their combined wealth. In India, business tycoon Mukesh Ambani has regained the title of Asia’s richest person, while Gautam Adani is ranked second. Other notable Indian billionaires include Dilip Shanghvi of Sun Pharmaceutical and Azim Premji of Wipro.

Roshni Nadar’s Leadership and Philanthropy

Under Roshni’s leadership, HCL Technologies, a leading IT services company, generates approximately $12 billion in annual revenue. She plays a crucial role in the company’s strategic decisions and growth. Beyond her corporate success, Roshni is deeply involved in philanthropic initiatives. Through the Shiv Nadar Foundation, she has supported the development of schools and universities in India to improve access to quality education.

She is also passionate about wildlife conservation and runs The Habitats Trust, which works to protect endangered animals and their habitats.

Apart from being the richest woman, Roshni Nadar Malhotra’s achievements as a successful business leader and philanthropist continue to inspire people across India. As the first Indian woman to be named among the world’s top 10 richest women, she exemplifies leadership, generosity, and innovation.
