Amazon India has signed an MoU with ARGA, an initiative of the Uttar Pradesh government, to help women entrepreneurs in Gonda district grow their businesses through e-commerce. This partnership will enable them to reach a wider market and improve their online selling skills.
Supporting Women Entrepreneurs
As part of this agreement, Amazon will provide support to women-led businesses under the Brand ARGA initiative. These businesses will be integrated into Amazon Saheli, a program designed to empower women entrepreneurs by providing them with essential tools and training.
Women entrepreneurs will receive training in digital marketing, performance marketing, product listing optimization, and advertising strategies. This will help them improve their sales and expand their businesses online.
Official Launch at Event
The partnership was officially announced at the World Wetlands Day celebration at the Parvati Arga Bird Sanctuary in Gonda. The event was attended by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Minister of State for Environment Kirti Vardhan Singh.
Speaking at the event, Yogi Adityanath highlighted the importance of this collaboration in helping self-help groups (SHGs) overcome marketing challenges. He emphasized that while local products have always been of high quality, better packaging and online marketing will now help these businesses grow further.
Amazon Role in Online Sales
Through this partnership, Brand ARGA products will now be available on Amazon.in. The products include:
- Pickles
- Jams
- Flour
- Namkeen
- Gram flour
- Noodles
- Other regional specialities
This move will allow small and medium businesses (SMBs) to expand their reach beyond local markets and enter national and international markets.
Women entrepreneurs will also gain data-driven insights to understand customer preferences, demand trends, and market opportunities. With access to these insights, they can improve their product offerings and boost sales.
Helping SHGs Overcome Business Challenges
Brand ARGA focuses on promoting self-help groups (SHGs) by allowing them to sell products under the ARGA brand name. With Amazon’s assistance, these SHGs can now overcome previous packaging and marketing challenges, making their products more attractive to online buyers.
This collaboration aligns with the UP government’s vision of promoting women-led entrepreneurship and boosting rural economies. It also helps Amazon strengthen its commitment to supporting local businesses and artisans across India.
By leveraging e-commerce platforms, women entrepreneurs in Gonda and beyond will have greater economic independence, increased income, and long-term business sustainability.
The Amazon-ARGA partnership marks a significant step towards empowering women entrepreneurs in Uttar Pradesh. By providing access to digital tools, training, and online marketplaces, this initiative will help local businesses flourish in the digital economy and reach customers across India and beyond.
