FarMart, a food commerce platform, has partnered with Aerem, a rooftop solar energy provider, to bring clean power to India’s growing agri-food supply chain. This collaboration hopes to solve a long-standing issue, giving food processors reliable and affordable energy to run their operations smoothly.
By using solar energy, this new partnership aims to cut electricity costs, reduce machine downtime, and help food businesses grow in an environmentally friendly way. The clean energy systems will now be integrated across FarMart’s widespread network of food processors and aggregators.
Wide Network Support
FarMart runs a tech-enabled, decentralized supply platform for agriculture and food. The platform connects over 3.8 million farmers, more than 1,500 food processors, and 4,000 food businesses across India, Africa, and the Middle East. It helps them manage food sourcing, collection, and delivery efficiently using digital tools.
Aerem supports this mission with its full rooftop solar setup tailored for small and medium businesses (MSMEs). It combines an RBI-approved financing arm, a marketplace of trusted solar companies, and easy technology to make switching to solar energy simple and affordable.
Leaders Share Vision
Anand Jain, Founder and CEO of Aerem, said that the partnership would help boost solar adoption across the food sector. By giving businesses access to solar power, they can cut energy bills, lower emissions, and stay strong in the long term.
Alekh Sanghera, Co-founder and CEO of FarMart, called energy the “foundational infrastructure” for today’s food economy. He believes that this clean energy shift is necessary to make the entire agricultural supply chain stronger and future-ready.
Backed By Investors
Both FarMart and Aerem are supported by Avaana Capital, a venture fund that focuses on climate-positive businesses. Anjali Bansal, the founding partner at Avaana, praised the partnership and said that it sets an example of how innovation in energy and food can work together.
She added that such collaborations create major impact, strengthening food systems, increasing productivity, and contributing to the dream of a Viksit Bharat, a progressive and self-reliant India.
This partnership marks a big step toward building a cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable future for India’s agriculture and food industries.
