boAt Enters Dashcam Market with Hive Series Launch

Share post:

boAt has expanded its consumer electronics portfolio by entering the dashcam segment with the launch of the Hive Dashcam series. The move marks the company’s foray into automotive safety products, beyond its established presence in audio devices and wearables.

The new dashcam range is positioned to cater to private car owners, daily commuters and commercial vehicle operators. With this launch, the company is seeking to tap into growing demand for in-vehicle recording solutions amid rising traffic density and safety concerns on Indian roads.

The Hive Dashcam lineup includes three models—F1, M1 and E1—each offering different specifications and price positioning. The devices are designed to support routine driving needs as well as professional and fleet-based usage.

According to the company, the expansion into dashcams aligns with a broader strategy to build technology-led products across adjacent lifestyle and mobility categories, responding to evolving consumer requirements.

Features And Positioning

The Hive Dashcam series offers a range of recording capabilities, including support for up to 4K Ultra HD video, dual-channel front and rear recording, and wide-angle lenses. These features are intended to ensure clearer documentation of road conditions and incidents.

All models are powered by Sony STARVIS image sensors, which are designed to enhance clarity in low-light and high-glare environments. This is aimed at improving visibility during night driving and challenging weather conditions.

Advanced features such as G-sensor-based incident detection, motion detection and GPS route logging are included across the lineup. Select models also offer Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, including alerts for lane departure and forward collision risks.

The dashcams support onboard microSD storage, mobile application integration and optional cloud connectivity. Parking surveillance features, enabled through motion detection and impact alerts, are also part of the offering.

Model Differentiation

The Hive Dashcam F1 is positioned as the premium model in the range. It supports simultaneous 4K front and 1080p rear recording and includes ADAS features, built-in GPS, voice control and smartphone connectivity through a companion app.

The Hive Dashcam M1 offers 2K QHD recording with a 140-degree field of view. It includes GPS-based speed and route tracking, emergency footage locking via a G-sensor, and expandable storage support of up to 512GB.

The Hive Dashcam E1 is targeted at daily commuters and commercial users. It provides 1296p HD recording, loop recording, automatic emergency triggers and Wi-Fi-enabled access for viewing footage on smartphones.

With the Hive Dashcam series, boAt is positioning itself in a segment that is gaining relevance for accident verification, dispute resolution and insurance documentation. The entry reflects a broader trend of consumer electronics brands moving into automotive safety and connected mobility solutions in India.
