The Sleep Company Raises Rs 480 Cr to Expand Stores

Share post:

The Sleep Company, a growing D2C comfort brand, has raised Rs 480 crore (about $57 million) in its latest funding round. The investment includes both primary and secondary components, with participation from private equity firms ChrysCapital and 360 One Asset.

As part of the deal, early investor Fireside Ventures partially exited by selling some of its shares. Co-founder Harshil Salot shared that the funding is evenly split between growth capital and secondary share sales.

The Sleep Company Funding

With this fresh capital, the Mumbai-based company aims to open 130 to 150 new retail stores over the next two years. It currently operates 160 outlets in 47 cities across India.

The expansion strategy focuses on metro cities and tier-I markets, while also reaching more tier-II cities to increase accessibility.

Invests in Growth

The company will use part of the funds to hire more people in product development and retail functions. It already employs around 1,500 team members and wants to strengthen its workforce as it grows.

ChrysCapital Director Rajiv Batra said the investment reflects a shift in Indian consumer habits, as more people now prefer science-backed, high-quality, and well-designed products for better everyday comfort.

Builds Strong Portfolio

Founded in 2019 by Harshil and Priyanka Salot, The Sleep Company sells products like mattresses, pillows, recliners, sofas, cushions, and office chairs. These are sold online and through its physical stores.

The brand plans to continue innovating and may explore acquiring smaller brands in the same space, expanding both its product range and customer base.

Reflects Industry Changes

The brand previously raised Rs 184 crore in December 2023 from Premji Invest and Fireside Ventures, and Rs 177 crore in 2022. These earlier rounds helped build a solid base for growth.

Co-founder Priyanka Salot mentioned that many competitors have shut down or been acquired, and she expects the industry to see further consolidation in the near future.
